CBS cancels Without a Trace and CW cancels Privileged

Multiple sources confirm that CBS has canceled Without a Trace and that CW has canceled Privileged.  With the Cold Case renewal over the weekend it seemed a sure bet that Without a Trace was left without a trace of renewal prospects.   Despite some fanciful suggestions of  renewal hope ( we suppose simply because it aired on the CW), Privileged's ultimate cancellation has seemed a sure bet for months.  Unfortunately for Privileged and its fans, there was no Dollhouse style surprise renewal.

WTF? Samantha Who? Without a Trace, Medium… all cancaled, while shows like Dollhouse lives to see another weak season… I can’t trust cancel/renewal index anymore!

So possible surprises in terms of rewewals/not this season: Earl/Medium which aren’t dead yet, Scrubs/Ted so they wouldn’t have 0 returning sitcoms, Cold Case, Til Death thanks to syndication and cheapness, and especially Dollhouse.

Overall the index seems about as good as last season.

OMG!!!! Ruudisss couldn’t AGREE withyou MORE. I mean really now iwthout a trace had 15 million views a couple of weeks ago. And Dollhouse has 2 million and getting renewed.. OMG CBS is crazy. They cancelled the unit too. JJJJEEEEZZZZEEE CCCBBBSSS

  4. cool

OMGGG maybe because the networks are lookin for the big picture (dvd sales, costs) and not only ratings.. OMGGGGWTFFFFFFFFFFF

I don’t understand how CBS choose Cold Case over Without A Trace, WAT it’s a better show and got better numbers over the season.

Damn, Privileged was a good show.

I still don’t know what FOX was thinking with Dollhouse. The entire Friday lineup is going to get cancelled next year.

  8. Jill

God, that’s so disappointing about Privileged. Not exactly surprising, but the rumours had gotten my hopes up again. *sigh*

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER CW BUBBLE SHOW, THE GAME??

  10. Tory

The rumors definitely got my hopes up for Privileged. Its a shame. CW doesn’t have any Gilmore Girl, Everwood, Felicity type shows anymore. I watch the channel less and less.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! No Privileged anymore :( ((((((

I guess that means they’ve picked up “Body Politic”? Nick C said it’s a choice between those two.

First of all, Dollhouse has nothing to be with CBS. So, I don’t get your “WTF CBS” comment…

Secondly, Cold Case was not kept because it’s a cheap show. And, also, I don’t see how you can be like “OMGGG WITHOUT A TRACE WAS SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN COLD CASE”… pretty sure that’s subjective.

The networks look at more than just ratings and number of viewers. It’s not as black and white as that. AND OMG MAYBE they have things to keep in mind that YOU don’t know about! Fancy that…

I liked Privileged too, but I’m not gonna start insulting a bunch of shows that got renewed because that one didn’t.

    Just my $o.o2

i hope so!!!body politic is just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Could other newtork take WAT?

abc or nbc kill to get a show like this in their schedules. or not!

  15. Tom

The decision between CC & WAT is a combination of ratings, and the costs CBS pays/ additional revenue WB (I think produces) gets from syndication/cable airing.

WAT just didn’t get enough additional viewers to warrant the additional net cost CBS would have to pay, apparently.

  16. Don

CW should pick up WAT but Dawn wants 1mil girls only.

  17. Don

WAT is also the first show in AGES that has not bombed in the Tuesday at 10pm timeslot.

  18. Paul PT

without a trace will be the second show in television history to be canceled and then ressusrrected, but this time by the network instead fan support.

when was the last time that a show is this average was canceled?

  19. Andrea

Bill and Robert, your odds were off on WAT. What happened there…

  20. Crane

Thank goodness PRIVILEGED is canceled. The ratings just didn’t support a renewal and frankly, open up a spot for the CW to try something different. If they do indeed pick up BODY POLITIC, they alone will be addressing politics. At least that’s something other than the tired cop/medical/legal procedurals of parent ‘net CBS and the “drama” of being a spoiled rich, white kid like in every other CW show.
