Surviving Suburbia and Cupid cancelled

Categories: Broadcast TV

Neither Cupid nor Surviving Suburbia were on the ABC  2009-2010 schedule.  Neither were In the Motherhood, Samantha Who? or The Unusuals, but we'd already heard about those cancellations.

Update: for  the  sticklers, the unaired episodes of Surviving Suburbia will air this summer, but the show was not renewed.

LOL, I don’t think people needed to be remembered that those shows even existed. I was trying so hard to forget those wasted hours.

totally offtopic, but what time are the NBC schedule announcements? sometime tuesday right?

  3. I’m not sure. The NBC formal presentation is tonight at 7pm ET, but I’d look for the schedule to be out before then.

  4. James

Actually, Ausiello’s twitter says that Surviving Suburbia is not dead yet.

  5. James, I heard what ABC said — it plans to burn off the remaining episodes of Surviving Suburbia this summer. So while not strictly dead in the sense of “pulled off the air never to see the light of day again” it wasn’t renewed.

Is According to Jim officially 100% over? Please say yes!

  7. Yes, ABC confirmed ATJ is gone. Whether that is 100% or Brett Farve-esque, time will tell ;-)

  8. Robert, thanks for the info on the NBC formal presentation tonight. Seeing as “My Name Is Earl” was not on the Fox schedule announced yesterday, I’m hoping that NBC have actually renewed it, even if it’s just a half-season for (a) closure and (b) syndication for getting to 100 episodes.

Big big surprises there. I wonder why they kept better off ted? I geuss so they wouldn’t look like total failures when they cancel every new spring show (except Castle).

  10. Edie Britt

cant believe they canceled samantha who

  11. Jace

Surviving Suburbia. Ha ha. Can you even believe this show ever got greenlit? Oh, Saget, be a little more discriminating in your job selection.

On the plus side of Samantha Who? getting cancelled, now Barry Watson is free for that big 7th Heaven reunion that Dawn Ostroff envisions! How ARE all those twins doing? An 11th season…worst programming decision ever. Everwood fans don’t forget easily.

I wonder when NBC will announce their full schedule, they were the first to announce their new shows, but is now almost last in showing full schedule.

ABC hasn’t canceled SUBURBIA – they have an option through September. Will wait and see how summer eps do.

  14. Yes!!! I hope Surviving Suburbia is dead!

  15. Hi guys,
Thinks for the update, I’ve my own chart in my brazilian site, your numbers and opinions are really helpfull to me. Thanks!

Wow, how sad! None of the comedies lasted and they’re launching a comedy night in the fall anyways? Haha, you gotta laugh at these idiots…how dumb are they???

That’s good to hear that Surviving Suburbia has an option through September and still plan on airing the episodes during the summer. If they do decently behind Wipeout and The Goode Family then they will definitely get picked up for mid-season next year.

I think you guys looked at it wrong when you say SS is canceled. ABC is just playing the wait and see game with the show, its not 100% axed probably 50% at this point. I knew they were playing the wait and see game anyways and Hank is going to need a show companion when one of those single-cams drop dead.

I LOVE Cupid! It is a new make on an old favorite (that I didn’t even know about!) It is so much more original than those hoe-hum series about another Criminal Scene Investigator and not some house full of spoiled little brats! Cupid has a few great characters and new guests every week that make the show interesting. It also gives great love & romance advice. It gives hope to those who have not found their special someone and a smile on my face. Maybe they just need to give it another try-maybe a different time slot…third time is a charm?!

  20. im pissed surviving suburbia is cancelled, that show was damn good.
