SUNDAY MORNING Caps off May Sweeps with its Best Delivery in Both Households and Viewers Since 2007
The CBS News Broadcast Was Also Up +17% in Adults 25-54, +16% in Viewers and +10% in Households on May 17
CBS SUNDAY MORNING wraps up the 2008-09 season as the #1 Sunday morning news program. The broadcast was up +3% in households (3.5/10 from 3.4/10), +5% in viewers (4.99m from 4.76m) and even in adults 25-54 (1.5/08) for this season compared to the prior year, marking its best season-long household delivery since 2006-07 and its best viewers total since 2005-06.
The May 17, “By Design” broadcast of SUNDAY MORNING posted double-digit percentage increases: up +10% in households (3.2/10 from 2.9/09), +16% in viewers (4.61m from 3.96m) and +17% in adults 25-54 (1.4/08 from 1.2/07), compared to the same week last season, capping off May sweeps with the program’s best delivery in both households and viewers since 2007: up +3% in households (3.2/10 from 3.1/10) and +6% in viewers (4.69m from 4.45m) compared to last year.
“By Design” marked SUNDAY MORNING’s first HD broadcast. Anchored by Charles Osgood from the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina, the program featured a tour of some of the most unique homes around the country – from the first Frank Lloyd Wright home ever built in California, to exotically designed houseboats along the Pacific Northwest, to Museum of Modern Art curator Klaus Biesenbach’s small Manhattan apartment, a tribute to minimalism. The broadcast also featured a profile of designer Tommy Hilfiger and a report about how today’s retirees are redesigning their “golden years.”
