CBS talked a little smack at its cable network competition this week, and Turner Entertainment Networks President, Steve Koonin was happy to tweak a little broadcast nose as well:
Speaking to B&C at a press lunch following its upfront event, Koonin took the fight to broadcast networks. “I think [NBC’s] Lipstick Jungle had a smaller audience than [TNT’s] The Closer and was twice the price,” he said.
Koonin also suggested that cable had taken away the kids genre, news and sports from broadcast TV. “Five years ago, original series were the last stronghold of broadcast. That foothold has crumbled underneath them,” he said.
