NHL Hockey Stanley Cup Playoffs win Saturday Night prime time besting Pushing Daisies and Harper’s Island easily
Sooner or later Bill will post the regular overnight report, but as he seems to be out and about, with a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating between 8pm-11pm (those numbers will be adjusted due to the nature of the way live sporting events are measured) game one of the Stanley Cup Finals on NBC where the Detroit Red Wings bested the Pittsburgh Penguins led the night.
America’s Most Wanted was the night’s second most-watched program with adults 18-49 (1.3), edging out a repeat of 48 Hours Mystery (1.2). How bad was it for the first burn-off episode of Pushing Daisies? Its .7 adults 18-49 rating was worse than the repeat broadcast of Wipeout (1.0). Things were not so great for the already canceled Harper’s Island either, where a new episode garnered a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating.
I haven’t yet seen any info on how the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Orlando Magic game did yet, but when we do, we’ll post the info.
Update: from our friend Paulsen at Sports Media Watch (thanks to Jon in the comments for quickly correcting me!), no 18-49 info, but:
Cavaliers/Magic Game 6 drew a 5.2 U.S. rating and 8.3 million viewers according to Nielsen Fast Nationals, up 21% in ratings and 29% in viewers from a 4.3 and 6.4 million for Celtics/Pistons Game 6 on ESPN last year. Last year’s Lakers/Spurs series, which aired on TNT, did not go to a sixth game.
Full details available via Marc Berman (and at some point in the not so distant future we’ll have them up in table form).
