As a Louisvillian I am interested in the ratings for the second and third episodes of Southern Belles:Louisville on Soapnet. I wonder if the ratings have held high from week one or if there has been a significant drop

Julia, its numbers are down quite a bit since October overall and I’m guessing in the demos as well. One of the reasons (there are several though) why it’s harder to make predictions for cable shows is we don’t have any regular access to the age and gender demographic information. I really don’t have any guesses as to what ABC Family will do.

Robert, thanks so much for answering my question. I appreciate it very much. I’ve also compared the ratings between KYLE XY and GREEK. Kyle XY did get higher ratings and still got canceled at the same time that Greek got renewed for a season three order of 20 episodes. So the ratings for the show were smaller, yet they got a renewal.

I found some articles about Greek getting high female key demo ratings. One of the best in the history of ABC Family.

Maybe that’s why the show was renewed again?

Julia, there’s probably not much difference between 680,000 and 711,000 when it comes to how ABC Family feels about the show. As ABC Family prime time Monday shows go, I would not say these are good numbers (look for the return of The Secret Life of an American Teenager later this month) and it’s worse than Kyle XY which ABC Family recently canceled. But, unfortunately when it comes to cable formulating a method for predicting show renewals and cancellations isn’t as easy as it is with broadcast prime-time shows, and in the case of Greek, like you, I don’t have any idea of whether it will be canceled or not. Sorry!

I’ll be honest. I’m kind of glad that you lost the bet. I LOVE Greek. And it’s so hard to find any kind of ratings for ABC Family shows or other cable shows. Here is a quick question, it looks like the ratings went up quite a bit for Greek for last week’s episode. I don’t know much about ratings for cable tv. Do you know if the ratings are good for Greek in terms of ABC Family show ratings and standards? I know that GREEK gets high demos when it comes to female viewers especially. According to the above info, it looks like Greek got 711,000 on cable right? VS the prior episode that got 680,000? So there is an increase.

Do you think the show can get another season? I know that season three has already been order for Greek with the order of 20 episodes. But what are the chances of getting a season four?

And can you tell me what they look for in terms of cable tv show ratings for ABC Family shows? What are the key demos? How the shows are judged and all that? I heard the female demo ratings were especially important. Hence, why GREEK got renewed for season three for next year.

Basically, ANY ratings info you can give me on Greek, I would so appreciate! Because I never know if the show will get canceled or not!

In Plain Sight and Criminal Intent rebounded slightly considering it was up against the MTV Movie Awards, I wouldn’t be surprised if it they already renewed for a Third and Ninth Season.

FX is getting a lot of mileage out of Night at the Museum, do films on FX usually rate as well or is it just the network premieres?

Most shows like Spongebob repeat well but not as well as NCIS, USA should nab NCIS:LA and The Mentalist once it reaches over 50 or so episodes,

The hills season 5 finale did better than season 4 finale!!!great ratings but at least i expected it could be one of the best of all the series!!the show was amazing on lauren’s last episode!!!It will never be the same.,,we miss you LC!!
