From the few times I’ve checked NCIS and Mentalist repeats do smashingly well in total households compared to most other shows so far this summer. As for ABC being the next CW, not as long as DH and GA are one and two by a mile in scripted shows in the 18-49 demo. As for politics, if anyone has any idea as to Messrs Gorman and Seidman’s politics except for the fact their times posting are Pacific Standard time ( and I know at least one of them lives in the Bay Area,) its not because they haven’t done a good job of keeping their political views off a site which is after all, only very tangentially related to them. I think I remember a year or so ago when so many people were using the comment section on the cable news report here to dole out diatribes against Republicans or Democrats. Comments about ratings were either nonexistent or just an excuse to go into why Nancy Pelosi or George Bush is a expletive deleted. There are hundreds at least of such political blogs and I see no reason why this site should duplicate their efforts. Hence, they understandably altered that one small part of the site.

ABC may be the next CW network. Many will think that that is NBC job but I see prospect for NBC it still have good prospects for lunching new shows. ABC has done disastrous job this year. And the ratings today just conform that. The reality shows on ABC will not last much longer, because after all then are reality and sooner or later it will be seen all that can be seen from them. The ratings today are a disaster for ABC even a shame.
By the way NBC may take over The X Factor after Simon Cowell deal expires, so the next American Idol may shift from FOX to NBC.

I personally enjoyed the finale of “According to Jim” and was very pleased to see that a funny, and for the most part clean, family comedy could last for eight seasons.

I’m sorry this is off this topic, but I think it’s really weak of you to close the comments section of your story on CNN’s ratings, throwing up a lame, “Your guess is as good as mine,” as to their ratings woes — and then denying readers the chance to tell you EXACTLY why CNN is in the toilet.

Sorry those views clash with your own personal politics, but when politics interfer and influence programming, ratings ARE impacted, for better or worse.

RG, We’re going with no Univision shows in the show tables for the summer. Not worth the time. And Telemundo pulled numbers last night about equal to the CW, but they’re definitely not worth our time in terms of reader interest.

How can Mental be like House? Are you blind? It’s absolutely ridiculous. Oh wait, now I see how Gallagher is a lot like House: Sarcastic, sleeping around with the women from the staff, not caring at all about the human kind and not even have a decent normal conversation with someone.
There are the similarities.
And yes, Eleventh Hour should get picked up by another network. CBS made a mistake (and cancelling WaT too). At least some other network would give it the publicity it needs.

Boring TV…Although I have become a fan of Law & Order SVU in syndication it was rare that nothing else was on – so I watched the stand alone finale…so NBC has one show I like but – only caught it b/c it was new in JUNE!?

I watched the Pelican Brief on DVD until SVU came on…everything else last night was l-a-m-e and for crying out loud how many specials and reports has Obama had since in office…is this an election year already???!!!???

I was wrong…I said NBC was dumb to not put on the Stanley Cup Finals this week to boost Conan. But Law & Order did way better than I thought it would. The Obama thing had the same demos has the NHL did but far more total viewers.

NBC is going to get at least one more hockey game.

Polar opposites last night: The NBC Obama special is what TV should be doing more of, and that ABC Earth 2100 is what TV should be doing less of.

Unfortunately, I missed the first part of the NBC show, and wished I had seen all of it. I tuned into the ABC show for about 20 seconds and my first thought was, “Is this on a NETWORK?” It’s almost as though they put a bunch of cats and dogs in charge of the network for a day.

I just saw the previews for ABC’s new shows. the only show i have ever watched on ABC was dirty sexy money, but looking at next season i will have to watch ABC

I know it’s OT, but Entertainment weekly says that Monday night’s Jon & Kate Plus Eight scored about 5.5 million viewers. Down from the 10 million last week, but still pretty healthy for basic cable on a Monday, beating several networks.
