Not a surprise at all that ABC moved ‘The Goode Family’ to Friday nights. That show bombed since its Series premiere. But Its Competition shows like ‘Wipeout’ and its upcoming second season of ‘I Survived A Japanese Game Show’are doing well, so for now, that’s its best bet for the Summer.

So do we think this increases or decreases the chance of ABC snatching up King of the Hill?

I can see it either way, that they just give up on Mike Judge, or they try and grab up a proven (if just average) ratings grabber.

ABC said a while back that they wouldnt be picking up King of the Hill and it seemed that they didn’t want The Goode Family either, which is why they pushed the premiere to summer and now its basically dead.

    lolz
bet they are trying to compete with foxes comedy lineup before Dollhouse

ahh fridays where shows go to die
    RIP Suburbia,Till death,Goode family,
    and sadly dollhouse im sure
im glad chuck is back on mondays but with NBC who knows its fate…
too bad i actually liked the latest offering of goode family
perhaps its like a fungus and it grows on you

with the economy the way it is,advertisers,SAG,problems with neilson numbers etc i am surprised networks arent a little more forgiving on shows and allow them to find their audeience more-I agree especially on a few of these friday they need killed but a few others show promise -ill citeNBCs new breakout cop drama that was paraded around for tweo weeks and then boom mooved to fridays Southland
Am i the only person who thinks like if they brought back a good show say LIFE and aired it on a gd night it would gain a folllowing as everthing else is dance or reality crap? i mean look at how gd repeats are doing against new shows..wow

When does GF move to Fridays?

Surviving Suburbia/The Goode Family will move to 8 and 8:30, respectively, on Fridays starting June 12. Since scripted programs that aren’t on CBS often do lousy on Fridays, ABC should’ve brought back Opportunity Knocks and put it on Fridays @ 8:00. I bet it would’ve done better than Surviving Suburbia/The Goode Family. America’s Funniest Home Videos reruns would’ve done well @ 9:00–much better than Samantha Who? repeats. Surviving Suburbia/The Goode Family could’ve had a chance on Sundays @ 9; anything can easily beat Desperate Housewives reruns. Who are the ABC execs that make these poor decisions?

it moves to fridays starting on June 12th which is next friday!

“Surviving Suburbia” was already moving to Fridays, anyway — they just moved the date up 3 weeks. (And the time up 90 minutes.)

Can’t blame them for moving “The Goode Family.” It was pretty embarrassing to have “The Unusuals” growing out of it when “The Goode Family” is the one ABC actually cut promos for. Why more people would rather watch a badly-cast show with inept production values, I have no idea.

  9. I think it’s safe to assume The Goode Family won’t be renewed then? Have to say that the pilot didn’t win me over and I was disappointed considering it’s by the guy who gave us King of the Hill.

As someone else has said, Friday nights are pretty much CBS’ domain with Ghost Whisperer, Medium (come the Fall) and the excellent Numb3rs. If Fox’s Sarah Connor Chronicle and Dollhouse couldn’t compete with those, I don’t see how any other network can, until either Ghost Whisperer or Numb3rs run their course.

  10. Why is ABC is so fixing their summer schedule!

    Hello its Summer!

  11. Tony

Obviously ABC wasn’t too impressed with the show and that’s why it was kicked off till summer. I do think though that it’s hard for any animated show to gain an audience when it’s not paired with a show of the same type. I think Goode Family was dooomed from the beginning.

I don’t see any network scripted show EVER catching on in the summer again as their have been in the past (OC, 90210 to name a few). Cable is the place to go during the summer time because of lower expectations. Cable can take more risks which the Networks won’t do especially when viewership is way down and advertising dollars are harder to come by. It’s a shame though that they can’t prodcue a 12 month slate of quality shows.

    Goode riddance.

I have high hopes for The Goode Family move to Fridays – it just wasn’t carrying the same audience as Wipeout. I’ll be curious to see the DVR ratings which come out this week, since the Nielsen system is archaic and unrealistic. It’s sad that the current tv industry relies on a system where 1 person with a physical log book represents 800,000 viewers! Viewing habits have changed and everyone now Tivos programs to watch later.

Unfortunately this Friday the 12th is also the same day that the digital tv switchover is made. -There goes a potential 3 million viewers who’ll be in the dark.

Goode show / bad time to be a network program.
