WE TV bridal programming played bigger than ever Sunday night.
The sixth season bow of Bridezillas and the sophomore debut of Amazing Wedding Cakes were the most-watched and highest-rating premieres for either series.
The June 7 installment of Bridezillas notched a 0.9 household rating and 1.2 million total viewers at 9 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data. The show delivered 377,000 women 18 to 49 and 335,000 women 25 to 54.
As for Amazing Wedding Cakes, it was served before 1.1 million viewers, netting a 0.8 average, according to Nielsen. Those performances were up 50% and 72%, respectively, from the show's debut.

WE and Oxygen both seem to be examples of late starting cable producers who were poorly served by the 1993 legal decision, ( I believe the Telecommunications Act ) to decide so and so ( in this case Lifetime ) was a mainstream cable content producer who would be bundled into every major cable package. ( Foxnews had a similar situation, but unlike WE and Oxygen didn’t have the deep pockets to overcome the cable affiliate gap like Foxnews did.) From all I have seen it is WE and Oxygen who have experienced by far greater growth in the 18-35 and even 18-49 female viewer category. Yet they still don’t have nearly the exposure to affiliates or customers of cable amnd satellite that Lifetime does. In this case, hot reality shows are trumped by an already-antiquated cable delivery system.
Amazing Wedding Cakes? Whats next? Amazing Gourmet Burgers? Is there no limit to the crap people will watch?
