Wow very bad for CBS; ABC soaps are coming to get them! Y&R is still supreme and GL is going out in shame.
Do these numbers include people who record these shows? I record General Hospital and some weeks I don’t watch until the weekend. Then I fast forward through the story lines or characters that I despise and there are a lot of those on General Hospital these days. Actually on a positive note for the advertisers. I watch more ads than show. The show is that bad. With the school break for summer I turn the show on and then just listen and watch if something interesting happens. I don’t know if other shows are getting annoying but this one is and that has got to be one reason for the downward trend. With the dreadful writing on GH I know I am close to abandoning the last soap I watch. I think the powers that be don’t really care. That is a shame because, quite frankly, the 50 or so other channels I get aren’t running much. Yesterday I found myself watching an old “Gunsmoke instead of GH. At least it was nostalgic.
Bill, thanks for the ratings info!
Do they count Y&R’s ratings for the Day Ahead Canadian episodes separately from the US ratings?
I’ve always wondered that.
Because when you see weekly ratings results, it’s usually for the US airings of the Y&R episodes. Not the Canadian airings.
Is there a distinction between the two? Maybe Canada has their own set ratings for Y&R? Or how does all of that work?
Julia, all the ratings you see on our site, except for one or two articles in the past 2 years specifically about int’l ratings, are US ratings only.
It’s nice to see Gh back up there in the ratings!
GL doesn’t seem to be that far off from the other bottom shows. Sucks for GL and the fans. Once GL Is gone they’ll be a new bottom soap. Most likely ATWT I wonder how long before they cancel that show, then another and another. Looks likes soaps are on the way out for less expensive programming. Like we need another game show or judge show…ugh !
I agree with SW. i also HOPE the soaps are still around for another 20 years.
I suspect Days’ ratings will be up even more for June 8-12. The acting and storywriting surrounding little Grace has been superb…the best I’ve seen on a soap in years. The unexpected nature of Grace’s sudden illness mimics life, where everything can change in one small moment. There were no leading scenes to warn us, or obvious clues dropped. A sudden trip to the hospital finds Sami unprepared, with touseled hair, panic striken face no ‘soapstar’ makeup or wardrobe. Alison Sweeney again has raised the bar with every scene she is in, and James Scott is always amazing. The scenes between Josh Taylor and Sweeney have been so real that one would think they were truly father/daughter.The raw emotion between the estranged parents Scoot and Sweeney are believable, with love turning to feelings of betrayal on a dime. I’m now drawn in to what this twist of story holds for the future.
Wow. Days is really back. I’ve missed the ratings for ages and i’m shocked Days is back up there!
What’s going on CBS? ABC soaps have terrible storylines in my opinion and everybody is moving over there. I love B&B, ATWT, and GL and all of them are in the dumps this week. I can’t believe how ATWT have dropped so sudden after being 4th a couple weeks ago. The storylines have really been good, I love seeing Roseanna make a comeback.
