Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Ouch- Kings got half the demo of any other show on the night! Do you think it will be yanked early?

  2. Chief

Those numbers for Kings have to be the worst for any original episode of any NBC television show in their history.

  3. Theoacme

Chief: as Al Jolson once said (and would likely be able to say something similar about a program or two on every other broadcast network as well), “You ain’t seen nothing yet!”

…although, if the producers of 10.5 are allowed near 30 Rock ever again (instead of living high atop the Unemployment Building in beautiful downtown Burbank), we might see a nothing demo from NBC in a couple of years.

  4. Eric

    Wait… I’m confused…
Is there a new zombie movie?

  5. Vinny

the goode family should be on saturday instead of fridays cause it would make the other shows look good lol. I have no problem with the goode family actually. Anyway, isnt weird how after kings nbc went up like 2 or 3 million viewers, when kinbgs was a new episode, and after that it was all repeats on nbc. Kings should have at least good 2.5 million because it was going against all repeats, a without a trace repeat, cops repeats back to back, and a movie repat on ABC, and the CW had a repat of legends seeker, so Kings should have definatly done better. The highest view on Saturday was 4.80 and was a repeat, and their was like 5 new episodes shjow last nigh, on Saturday. BILL IS DEFINALTLY RIGHT, IT IA LIKW NIGHT OIF THE LIVING DEAD, ALL OVER AGAIN,

  6. Vinny

FOX WOULD HAVE PROBLALY GOT MORE MILLION IF THEY PUT IN NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, and Eric i thnk Bill was exegretting their was new zombie movie he just saaid that because the numbers for tv last night more horrible.

  7. ABCHasProblems

LOL @ Kings! I think NBC will pull it from the schedule and air the remaining episodes on Hulu. Just an FYI, Castle will return in reruns on ABC next Saturday @ 9/8c leading into the final episodes of Eli Stone @ 10/9c. I’m sure even a Castle rerun will do better than a new episode of Kings, if NBC still has it on schedule (which I doubt). I honestly thought 18-49 demos on the big three nets couldn’t get worse than The Goode Family on ABC (1.82 million, 0.5/2 on a Friday!), but NBC proved me wrong with Kings. I think The Goode Family will move to Saturdays @ 10/9c once Dirty Sexy Money finishes in August.

  8. Vinny

    i meant were horrible.

  9. Vinny

ABCHasProblems they problaly will put 2 episodes on saturdays for the goode family. srry posting so much stuff guys.

  10. ABCHasProblems

    That’s what I meant: two episodes each @ 10:00.

  11. Vinny

srry ev1 again for so many commments but i have one mroe thing to say NBC is probably gonna keep kings until they find something else to put on, because i dont think put on 3 stragiht reruns in a row of law and order svu and the regular one. Ok im done with the comments today srry again ev1 hope you dont find for all the comments i posted, and if u do srry lol.

Funny how Cops, America’s Most Wanted, and 48 Hours are the consistent shows in viewership on Saturdays. Apparently people watching the networks on Saturdays want real law enforcement entertainment. It’s like the people I know who listen to the police scanner every evening to find out which of their neighbors are being arrested.

  13. Theoacme

Three straight L&O’s? Vinny, if they throw in CI with SVU and the original (which they have before), at least the CI would be new to broadcast (as they have aired on USA) – and would get better ratings.

As for Kings? Mash it with the Goode Family, ‘Til Death, Worst Week – and put the resulting show on the CW: Ostroff’s Worst Death for the Goode Kings Family…

…if nothing else, we could use it to interrogate terrorist suspects – and it would be entirely constitutional, too :)

  14. Vinny

True theoacme that would be much better than kings I forgot about CI. If I was nbc though I would give it 1 more chance and maybe if that doesn’t work put it on a t 10 after the law and orders. Don’t they have to air all 13 episodes though?? Cause of a contract ??

  15. RJ

FOX’s lineup has been slipping a lot lately. It was only a few months ago they were around 1.9-2.1 demos. What happened?!?!? *Don’t say summer because a few weeks ago the numbers were low too.*

  16. craigward

I actually watched Kings out of curiosity last night. There’s a reason the ratings are so bad. The acting and dialog are really awful. I switched to mute-with-CC after ten minutes.

  17. Derrick

NBC didnt even try to promote KIngs, all they had to do was play the original trailer for the show a couple of times the week before

the only reason i saw it was because i never took the series ooff my DVR, when i got home at 12, it was on there, i thought it was a rerun but it was a new episode

  18. Wait. New episodes of Kings are still on? ;)

  19. Alex

Kings did so bad because NBC didn’t advertise its return at all! They do not know how to keep a good show going.

  20. Budo

Oh, come on. Kings had a really good pilot, I actually recommended it to people. Episode 4 was its last jolt of life, and after that it just got stupid. It’s not the acting, it’s the writers, period. It’s probably the quickest betrayal of a promising premise by its writers ever.
