Weekly National Ratings:

During the week of June 8, 2009, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” registered solid double-digit increases over the previous week of 26% in Total Viewers (1.68 million vs. 1.33 million) and 35% in Adults 18-49 (795,000 vs. 589,000), drawing its best numbers in both Nielsen measures since March – since weeks of 3/23/09 and 3/2/09, respectively. In fact, “JKL” turned in its best performance during the summer in 3 years – since week of 6/19/06.

  • Competitively, “JKL” topped NBC’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” in Total Viewers on its Tuesday (2.02 million vs. 1.86 million – 6/9/09) and Thursday (2.16 million vs. 2.81 million – 6/11/09) telecasts, representing the first time ever that the ABC late-night program outperformed “Fallon” in viewers twice in one week.

  • Thursday’s (6/11/09) telecast of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” topped CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” in Adults 18-49 (1.15 million vs. 1.11 million), outdelivering an original telecast of the CBS program for the first time ever in the key young adult sales demo.
  • For the week, “JKL” bettered CBS’ “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” among Adults 18-49 by 20% (795,000 and 665,000), posting its largest margin of victory over the CBS late night program in the young adult demo in nearly 1 year – since week of 7/14/08.

    I don’t think it’s such a huge accomplishment that Kimmel finally outdid Fallon in total viewers twice in one week, or that Kimmel beat Ferguson in the demos. I mean, Kimmel is on 30 minutes earlier than Fallon and Ferguson. He should be beating them regularly.

    ABC is clearly the biggest beneficiary from this late night shuffle after Jay departed. The people who like watching Leno but not Conan has to find a place.

    Also Kimmel starts at 12, half an hour earlier than both Fallon and Ferguson. As KT said, he should lead.

    Whats with the hang up on 18 to 49 bracket. 18 year olds don’t even watch TV. At least mine and his friends don’t.
