No surprises, FOX won the night with So You Think You Can Dance, and ABC again got some decent mileage out of Wipeout. The premiere of I Survived a Japanese Game Show though, was disappointing for ABC. Aside from the 2.1 adults 18-49 rating being down a lot from last year's premiere (3.1), it also fell off in its second half hour. That didn't help the series finale of The Unusuals, not that it really matters.
With a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here suffered its lowest rating to date.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

I hate nbc!
That NBC network is a Powerhouse. Their battle cry is “Thank Goodness we own cable networks”.
Ok
with
last
night.
SYTYCDance? is a really good show, nothing like Idol! Plus this season the contestants are really the best so far.
Anymore NBC gets viewers like The CW!
Let’s hope I’m a Celebrity keeps dropping. That show is unwatchable. NBC is in dire shape.
I’m gonna miss The Unusuals. Very sad that it didn’t catch on, but TV is a cruel mistress.
It seems like everytime ABC promotes the heck out of a show (Pushing Daisies, The Goode Family, Japanese Game Show), that show ends up with low ratings. I would think that Japanese Game Show would be compatible with Wipeout, but I guess that’s not the case this year. The Unusuals was on the wrong network, in my opinion. It would’ve fit on FOX if paired with House or Bones.
ABCHasProblems, you’re drawing some bad cause and effect conclusions. ABC “promotes the heck” out of all its new shows. It’s just that they have had *very* limited success with their new shows over the last 2 seasons. They’re not failing because they’re promoted, but because few of ABC’s new shows have caught on with viewers.
I Survived a Japanese Game Show was on last night? Hah, I didn’t even know. I would’ve DVR’ed it if I knew. I was watching Wipeout and SYTYCD.
Bill, that’s true. I imagine LOST will be on @ 10 next year since every show launched after it (including The Unusuals, which starred Harold Perrineau from LOST) has been doomed. I’m still shocked Japanese Game Show’s did so poorly. No matter how poorly it performs in subsequent original airings, I’m sure it can’t do as badly as The Goode Family.
I didn’t think there was the slimmest chance that Jap Game Show would be back.
In any event — whore cares.
I’m surprised to see the ratings dip a bit as So You Think You Can Dance Get’s to the Meet of the Show. More people watched the formation of the top twenty that are actually watching the top 20. At least it’s not like American Idol that takes about three months to get to the actual competition.
I hate FOX. I hate ABC. I hate CBS. I hate…leave NBC alone. They are doing just fine right now. It is summer and these numbers are expected. Americans are just drawn to silly shows like SYTYCD because they like watching people fall flat on their faces. Why do you think Idol does so well. Just wait, NBC will regain their #1 spot in the ratings game soon. Remember, this was the network that brought us Friends, Frasier, Will & Grace, Homicide and ER! The ratings will climb and NBC will be back on top.
Jocor you said “whore cares” instead of “who cares”. Proofreading does wonders!
huddy80, I think you forget the part about NBC clicking its heels together 3 times and repeating “There’s no place like # 1″?
That’s certain to do it!
Dittos for the “Unusuals” comments, it will be missed.
huddy80, is your first name Ben by any chance? And your last name Silverman?
Considering Wipeout is a rip-off of japanese shows, I’m pretty sure “I survived a Japanese Game Show” is compatible with it ^^.
. I doubt NBC could go that low but well, we never know.
I know it’s summer but I kinda love those CW’s numbers
@huddy80, So…you’re upset with FOX for airing “silly shows” like SYTYCD and Idol, but are praising NBC, which is giving us gems like “I’m a Celebrity…” and America’s Got Talent? Did I miss something here?
But Bill, how many episodes of The Unusuals aired before they decided to cancel it? I think that other networks give their new shows more time to grow an audience. Of course, I have no facts to back that up. It’s just seems that way to me.
