OK, there's only 90 days until Dollhouse airs, but 91 days until the next Friday overnight report with Dollhouse ratings. With nights like last night, believe me when I say that I really can't wait.
Last night was a cross between repeats, "The Land of the Misfit Toys" and in some cases, both with The Goode Family, Surviving Suburbia, Samantha Who, Privileged, Everybody Hates Chris, The Game and Chopping Block all getting airtime. Dateline NBC was the night's most-watched program.
How bad was it? It was so bad that I'm far more interested in knowing how a rebroadcast of the NCIS backdoor pilot for the NCIS: LA spinoff did on USA Network, but we'll probably have to wait until Tuesday to find out.
You can see TV ratings from other recent Overnight ratings reports here.

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

i am not in the mood to watch re runs but i did watch Flashpoint and toinght i am going to watch Castle re run and Eil Stone
NBC wins !!
I’m officially calling shenanigans on Nielsen post-DTV transition. There has been a *much* larger drop since then that had been predicted right? ABC has fallen off the edge of the earth.
NBC (L) !
ABC is very stupid for keeping The Goode Family on @ 8:30. AFV reruns do well @ 8:00 on Fridays and would easily outperform new episodes of Surviving Suburbia/The Goode Family in the 18-49 demo. On the other hand, FOX is extremely stupid for canceling Don’t Forget the Lyrics with numbers like last night’s rerun. ABC should pick up Lyrics as they haven’t found a hit program in the past few years.
How nice to see that my countdown to Dollhouse’s return is spreading like a communicable disease!
90 days til Dollhouse is back! Whee!
I’m with Chief, I have little faith in the Nielsen system. I understand at least 2 affils pre-emted Goode Family for infomercials; that can’t be goode for ratings. When do DVR numbers become available? They should be a stronger gauge of summer viewership.
Robert, Don’t Forget the Lyrics was brand-new. The (R) symbol should not be there.
people can be skeptical, and that’s fine and the jury is not yet out on the impact of DTV transition on ratings. But c’mon!!
ABC fell off the map because of what it aired. DTV transition and DVR numbers aren’t going to change that those shows don’t draw viewers. And if affiliates are preempting The Goode Family for an infomercial that says a lot of what those affiliates thought about that. BTW, to the degree anyone in those affiliates who was a Nielsen home was watching the infomercials, those #s would still get counted in the overnight numbers and won’t get factored out until the finals.
I LOL’d at your title..
Don, Berman had it listed as a repeat so I went with that. Unfortunately we don’t see the Friday reports ourselves usually until Monday.
Robert, I DVR’d the NCIS two part spin-off Pilot myself and watched the repeat of The Music Man with Matthew Broderick on Ovation. Most of what was shown on broadcast last night was junk they are just getting out of the way. Lizard
cw reruns have a big increase!!!
the rerun of the game had the same demo with the new episode of good family and almost the same number of viewers!!
I’m with Chief, I have little faith in the Nielsen system.(2)
Both FOX.com and thefutoncritic list Lyrics as new, the season finale.
Our ABC affiliate (Buffalo) ran an infomercial instead of The Goode Family – probably a wise decision.
Yikes, 5.76 mil wins the night. The dog days of summer.
I still chuckle at The Chopping Block. Before it first came out, promos went on and on how the featured chef was someone who made Gordan Ramsey cry. With these ratings, who’s crying now?
I find this countdown to Dollhouse quite unseemly – is Yvonne Strahovski on that show I ask you?
