We knew Flashpoint would be back, but I don't think anyone anticipated it would be back this soon.

via press release:

So is this a new ep?

that’s great!any word on how many original episodes they will air over the summer?

  3. The_1337

    That’s really weird.

    Yep new episodes.

Flashpoint is actually still on the air right now on Fridays doing reruns. Oddly, it’s not on the air up here in Canada. @_@

DJM – the remaining production season 2 episodes will likely air this summer, and then eventually a the series will return with a third season probably in the spring. CBS has 2 more new dramas for midseason so its unknown in the network will even have room for Flashpoint then.

Well, remember that CBS probably considers Fridays fixed for the entirety of the year (or at least until March+). As a CBS production with a Lifetime subsidy, Medium is very unlikely to get yanked early – CBS will have no need of Flashpoint as cheap filler anytime soon.

Along with that is network TV’s sudden desire to use everything in the broadcast year in which it is produced – see also ABC’s “burning” of Ted episodes. Sure, summer burn offs are nothing new, but both Ted & FP are shows that were renewed – the remaining episodes could easily be moved to next year.

I’m not sure what is behind this change in thinking. Simpler accounting – profit & loss are handled in the same broadcast year? Promotional opportunities for the upcoming Fall season? A realization that ceding all continuing scripted summer shows to basic cable is only hastening broadcast’s demise?

It could be interesting to watch what airs next summer – as Dan partially mentioned above, almost all the networks have too many shows. Sure, some/most new shows won’t see backorders, but some nets (like NBC) have too many shows if _any_ get backorders.

I like Flashpoint so new episodes are good, but isn’t Monk starting about that time? I can’t remember. Those shows are on opposite each other. Monk should have more viewers this summer since it is the last batch of shows. Maybe CBS is trying to be competitive.

Its fine, Flashpoint was already renewed. :)

  9. Christopher

i was wondering when i would see new ones perfect

  10. steve

What season 2 episode did cbs not air

  11. Rick

Since they’re showing it in the summer where most other programs are reruns anyway, why don’t they try it on another night? That would make sense to me…
