NATIONAL NIELSEN RATINGS FOR THE WEEK OF JUNE 22 - 28, 2009

IT’S FOUR NIGHTS AGAIN FOR FOX!

Solid audience turnout for So You Think You Can Dance, COPS, AMERICA’S Most Wanted and animation repeats led FOX to four nightly wins. FOX ended the week with a 1.5/5 among Adults 18-49 and remains this summer’s No. 1 broadcast television network.

On Wednesday night, So You Think You Can Dance featured performances by the Top 16 and posted a 2.9/9 among Adults 18-49. FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Total Viewers, and all key female demos.  Airing against NBC’s America’s Got Talent in the 9PM hour, the dance competition achieved substantial gains in its last half hour, increasing by 15% among Adults 18-49 and 10% among Total Viewers.

The following night’s So You Think You Can Dance elimination show posted a 2.5/8 among Adults 18-49 and placed No. 1 in its hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos. Despite the extensive celebrity news coverage that evening, FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.

COPS continued its winning streak on Saturday night with back-to-back episodes ranking No. 1 in the 8-9p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54 and all key male and female demos.  At 9p, AMERICA’S Most Wanted won its hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Total Viewers, and all male and female demos.

On Sunday, animation repeats once again propelled FOX to a nightly win, with repeats of THE Simpsons, KING OF THE HILL, Family Guy and American Dad all ranking No. 1 in their half hour timeslots.  FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and virtually all key demos.

FOX had 4 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-49: So You Think You Can Dance- WED (No. 3), SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE-THU (No. 5), Family Guy (No. 10) and American Dad (No. 16).

FOX had 9 of the Top 20 programs among Adults 18-34:  SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE- WED (No. 1), SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE-THU (No. 2), Family Guy (No. 5), THE Simpsons (No. 8), American Dad (No. 9 tie), KING OF THE HILL (No. 9 tie), AMERICA’S Most Wanted (No. 13 tie), COPS 2 (No. 13 tie) and HOUSE TUES 8p (No. 13 tie).

FOX ranked No. 2 for the night among Adults 18-34 and No. 3 in Teens.

WEDNESDAY

8:00-10:00            SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE-WED: (A18?49: 2.9/9, 7.6 Mil Total Viewers, HH: 4.7/8)

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE posted a 2.9/9 among Adults 18-49. Despite airing against NBC’s America’s Got Talent in the 9p hour, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE gained substantially in its last half hour compared to its first among Adults 18-49 (+15%, 3.0 vs. 2.6), Adults 18-34 (+20%, 3.0 vs. 2.5) and in Total Viewers (+10%, 7.7 vs. 7.0 Mil.)

FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34/25-54 and all key female demos, outperforming the all-original lineups on both ABC and NBC.
