Broadcast Marks Its 47th Consecutive Quarter Win in Total Viewers and Households

"Meet the Press" Also Wins the Week Ending June 28 In All Categories
NEW YORK ? July 2, 2009 ? According to Nielsen Media Research data, "Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program in all categories for the second quarter of 2009. "Meet the Press" has now placed first in total viewers and homes for 47 consecutive quarters ? the best showing since at least 1980, as far back as NBC research records go.

For 2Q'09, "Meet the Press" was No. 1, averaging 3.088 million total viewers, +17 percent more (+439,000) than second place ABC's "This Week" 2.649 million, an +18 percent advantage (+467,000) over third place CBS' "Face the Nation" 2.621 million and a +160 percent lead (+1,901,000) over FOX News Sunday's 1.187 million.

In Washington, D.C., "Meet the Press" topped the competition for the quarter with 101,000 viewers (3.6/11 HH), a +102 percent advantage over CBS' 50,000 (1.7/5), a +135 percent lead over ABC's 43,000 (1.7/5), and +261 percent more than FOX's 28,000 viewers (1.0/3).

In homes nationally for the quarter, the NBC program placed first with a 2.2 rating and 7 share. ABC placed second with a 1.9/6, CBS came in third with a 1.8/5 and FOX was fourth with a 0.9 and 3 share.

Among adults 25-54 for 2Q'09, "Meet the Press" was No. 1 with a 0.9 rating. ABC and CBS tied in second with 0.7 and FOX came in last with a 0.4.

For the week ending June 28, "Meet the Press with David Gregory" was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program in all categories according to Nielsen Media Research data. The Gregory-moderated broadcast was No. 1, averaging 2.752 million total viewers, +11 percent more (+273,000) than second place CBS' "Face the Nation" 2.479 million, a +17 percent advantage (+402,000) over third place ABC's "This Week" 2.350 million and a +163 percent lead (+1,706,000) over FOX News Sunday's 1.046 million. The NBC program has now placed first in total viewers for 401 of the past 404 weeks (when everyone is at full coverage).

In Washington, D.C. for the week, "Meet the Press" placed first with 95,000 viewers (3.5/11 HH), a +138 percent advantage over CBS' 40,000 (1.3/4), a +171 percent lead over ABC's 35,000 (1.4/4), and +332 percent more than FOX's 22,000 viewers (0.9/3).

In homes nationally for the week ending June 28, the NBC program was No. 1, posting a 2.0 rating and 6 share. CBS came in second with a 1.7/5, ABC placed third with a 1.6/5 and FOX was last with a 0.7/2. Among adults 25-54, the NBC program was first with a 1.1 rating. CBS and ABC tied with a 0.6 rating and FOX was last with a 0.3 rating. ABC came in third with a 0.8 and FOX came in last with a 0.4.

On its digital platforms, "Meet the Press" generated more than 271,000 online video streams from June 28 through July 1, 2009. The "Meet the Press" video podcast (available at www.mtp.msnbc.com) remains the top ranked network Sunday Morning program podcast on iTunes.
