  1. dollhouse sucks

not that impressive but still better than Greek which is ABC family’s best show quality-wise, way off from the highly rated but unwatchable The Secret Life of the American Teenager

  2. Mike

After reading all those countless records it broke I was really expecting more than 1.6 million.

  3. Karen

Am I reading this right? ONLY 1.6 million for the premiere? That is less than 300,000 more than was watching Kyle XY weekly. It’s the best comedy premiere for an original comedy on ABCF? I guess so since Roommates had a big premiere then it went on to………..oh wait……it was cancelled. If there weren’t so many of us boycotting ABCF, the numbers would have been better for both 10 Things and MIOBO. We may not make much of an impact but we are staying away from the network in large numbers (not network large but large for cable).

BTW ABCF, that “add on” to the Season 3 dvd just isn’t going to cut it. We want more.

    SAVE/MOVE THE TUB>>>>kylexy.net>>>>savethetub.com>>>>>savekylexy.com

  4. Karen

Oops sorry. I meant MIOBI (Make It Or Break It)

  5. Lori

ABCF claims everything sets records. Of course it doesn’t matter anyway if the show can’t hold its viewship or they cancel it for no damn good reason. Karen’s right…and I won’t buy Kyle’s season 3 Dvd because I refuse to put money in those jerks’ pockets. Any add on they put on the dvd will likely just make my more angry than I already am.

  6. Holly

EVERY network goes on about records in their press releases. A show could do horrible in every normal demographic and the press release would be gushing over how well the show did amoung African-American men 20-22 named George. It’s called spin.

  7. Tanner

I watched and i looooved it! Kat was definitely my fav character, she has the teen angst thing down without going overboard.. And great to see Larry Miller back as the dad! This is definitely staying on my schedule!

  8. Cassandra

1.6 million for a premiere and ABCF is fine with that? Can you say backwards logic? Uh, yeah, considering they canceled Kyle XY and blamed it on the ratings, when even after no promotion and ridiculously long hiatuses, Kyle still pulled 1.3 million viewers each week for their final season. I am one of the Kyle XY fans that has not watched ABCF since the cancellation. I never even watched that channel before Kyle XY existed. I only watched for Kyle and now that he is gone, I won’t watch again. And like Lori, there is no way I am buying the season three DVD set. It doesn’t make sense to give my money to someone who disrespected me and the rest of the Kyle XY viewers. ABCF family will never learn.

  9. Janey

Hmmm – not a very impressive series debut. Those numbers will go down. Just think, they could have kept Kyle XY and been excited about even higher ratings *every* week.

  10. Sandyp

I agree with all that Karen, Cassandra, Lori and Janey said. How can ABCF claim a success story when their highly touted new show (trying to cash in on Heath Ledger’s untimely death IMO) pulled in less of an audience then did Kyle XY in it’s last season? I expect this show will go the way of some of their other recent “success” stories that are no longer on the air.
It seems that with this demographic change there comes a cost, fickle fans that won’t stay longer then the first two or three episodes unlike the loyal and dedicated fans of KYLE XY who will continue to boycott the “New Kind Family” and campaign for the reprisal of our favorite program.
It may seem to some that the boycott and campaign may not be working to bring back Kyle, but to me it is very satisfying to see the replacement programs not bring in the fans that Kyle did.
I’ve not decided whether I will buy the Season 3 DVD set yet, but I’m leaning against it, because as much as I love Kyle and Matt Dallas as well as the rest of the cast, I’m not willing to give my hard earned dollars to the network and execs that have caused so much unhappiness to Kyle’s worldwide fanbase.

  11. RJ

ABC Family is changing its image, and Kyle XY didnt fit that. Thus, they dropped it. End of story. Move on.

  12. Cassandra

ABC Family is changing its image, and is losing viewers. Thus, their network will fail. End of story. Move one.

  13. Cometcobalt

I agree with Karen and SandyP. It is a shame that they “spin” how awesome these shows have done when it is obvious when you look at the numbers it is not true. Third season DVD for Kyle XY? Not sure now. With the addition of the “Future Exposed” I have to admit I too lean toward not giving ABCF more money after what they did to the incredibly loyal fans.

  14. alienda

After wading through all the effusive rhetoric, I was surprised to see that only 1.6 million of their “chosen demographic” had tuned in.

  15. shortnsweet

The title alone keeps me from wanting to watch it. Regardless of the untimely demise of Kyle XY, the network has gone in a way that I can’t follow. The term “Family” really doesn’t belong in their title. I prefer to watch uplifting, positive shows that are sharp enough to appeal to adults but appropriate for younger viewers. On the “new kind of family” I see a lot of negativity, disrespect, innuendo, etc. Their content just doesn’t interest me anymore.

  16. Holly

^You do realize that the title is taken from the movie, from the poem Kat writes based on one of Shakespeare’s sonnets…and that the movie itself was based on his Taming of the Shrew…right?

  17. zurd0

I agree with all that Karen, Cassandra, Lori, Janey, Sandyp and comet said. 1.6 million for a premiere?? shame on you ABCF… The thing I hate most is that “ABCF” blame to the ratings for KYLE XY cancellation, everybody knows that its a lie!! Kyle XY has a loyal and dedicated fan base.. So ABCF I hope you don’t think that with Season 3 dvd or “Future Exposed” dvd, We (The Fans) are going to stay calm… Well NOT. We want more of this Incredible Show.

And Yes! Bill Gorman… We are Very… Very.. Veeeeery PATIENTS.

  18. DanXY

It amazes me how stubborn ABC Family is. By now they should have realized the mistake they made by canceling Kyle XY and angering the many loyal and faithful fans that always tuned into that show. I never tuned into that station until Kyle XY came along, and through that great series it opened my eyes to what other shows they had to offer. Alas, my station viewership ended when ABC Family unjustly canceled one of their most successful series ever. At this point I don’t think Kyle XY deserves to return back to a station that no longer appreciates quality family programming.

  19. the ticklish pear

I feel like this is a sad attempt to make themselves look good.

this network is no longer a “family” network. even secret life fans are complianing about their show flinging the word “sex” around like it is meaningless. teens are sending their younger siblings, parents, and grandparents away in embarassment. sure, kyle xy has some sexual humor and questionable subjects, but at least it shows a family dealing with problems and life lessons together and in a more logical and realistic way. my whole family enjoys watching it together and my parents even commented on how it is a good show for parents to watch with their teens and trigger the not so fun conversations about growing up and maturing.

listen to the fans abcfamily! it will do you some good.

  20. TV Addict

Don’t believe the hype. If abc family brings back Kyle xy they will see the real ratings rewards. It’s not too late to reconsider. We are very patient. Shown by how we waited through the writers strike only to be slapped in the face with a cancellation. ABCF, do the right thing and redeem yourselves with a real ending or better yet many more episodes of Kyle XY.
