Their few remaining fans bid adieu to both Harper's Island and Eli Stone on Saturday night. Emphasis on few.

Kings has even fewer fans, but will continue till it's finished, NBC obviously having decided that dead air is an even more glaring admission of failure. Oh yeah, Fox reality crime beat them all to win the night with an overall 1.3 in the 18-49 demo.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Harpers island’S final 30 minutes averaged 4.2 million and a 1.0 18-49, the finale wasn’t what i was expecting but it was better than no closure at all, so i’m happy CBS let it finish it’s run, also the official series trailer shows bits that never happened, i wish there was another season with a new mystery cos tbh the writers where a bit shakey at the beginning but the series for me and others became must see tv and it was a great thrilling ride and i’d reccomend it to anyone.

Kings had a good episode the harper’s finale sucked

I have to give points to CBS for trying something different with Harper’s Island and airing its whole 13-episode run, even if they had to move it to Saturday to do it. And while HI definitely didn’t get good ratings, it did actually hold on to its viewers (and demo) for its entire Saturday run. Unfortunately it did bad enough that I don’t see CBS (or any other net) jumping at the chance for a similar 13-episode series anytime soon.

    Irony:

There were more people in the cast of “harpers island” than the # of people that actually watched the show.

  5. Roop

    HARPER’S ISLAND(L)
    It was amazing.

  6. I didn’t miss one episode of Harper’s Island. I will definitely miss it on Saturday nights; however I was VERY VERY disappointed with the ending. I had
no idea it was Henry; I was very shocked but greatly disappointed. Guess I am
a romantic at heart wanted the few that were left would KILL Wakefield and get off
the island. Henry and Trish would have their wedding and of course Abby and Jimmy
would be reunited. Wish there could have been a continued series!
Thanks to CBS for airing the episodes.

  7. Stu

Harper’s Island was a fantastic, fun and well made Mystery/Slasher mini-series, my wife and I watched it faithfully every week…it will be missed!

Perhaps more will try it on dvd and appreciate it for what it was, and not for what some “thought” it should be.

If you didn’t watch it you missed a great show imo

  8. Stu

why the hell would anyone ruin a 13 week mystery and NAME the killer in an un-announced SPOILER????

    Are you daft?

How about mixing for common sense with your sentimentality!

(yes Robin this is directed towards you)

  9. @Robin: Thanks for ruining the finale of Harper’s Island you stupid hooker.

  10. @Robin: My previous comment wasn’t harsh enough. What the hell is the matter with you Robin? Why in the world would you hop onto this forum and ruin an ending some of us have been waiting 11+ weeks for??? Not all of us sit at home on Saturday nights…some of us do rely on DVR. Lemme guess…you ate too many paint chips as a child? Someone needs to smack the sh!t out of you.

  11. It always amuses me the way people go nuts over spoilers. You’d think the moment of their death was just revealed to them and it’s today. LOL

  12. djm

some people (Saylor, Stu) need to get a life…

  13. djm, RSH, they are completely right. In this site we discuss the RATINGS, not the product. Of course we can do it, but at least let’s have some judgment and not give MAJOR SPOILERS away.

I knew who the killer was, but if I didn’t I would be very very upset.

Harper’s Island is a bad show. The last episodes are entertaining but it’s a show very poorly made.

Kings is awesome. One of the best shows on TV. I just wished NBC gave it a chance. Well, too late now. Hope many people catch up on DVD. It’s definitely worth it.

  14. Viper

djm and RSH have it right. Get a grip, it’s your own fault for reading the article that is clearly headlined with the final episodes of Harper’s Island as part of the main topic. Just what did you expect to read about the local weather report?

  15. Shem

I believe Wipeout was on at 9pm. Cuz I came home @ 8.55pm and I’m pretty sure Wipeout was on at 9.

  16. RJ

Shem, Wipeout was on at 8pm last night. :)

BTW, I knew who the killer of Harper’s Island was from the very beginning. However, it was still a good ending.

  17. Ken F

it’s to bad good tv just don’t make it anymore tv has really cahnged 15 to 20 yrs ago this show would have been a watercooler speacial. It would have been the talk of the time..Nothing can make it any more case in point, they got rid of the Unit, the 4400, and cane last yr tv just stinks today nothing get a chance except reality tv to bad

  18. David R

Instead of bitching at Robin…(Saylor, Stu) you should learn to actually watch something live instead of relying on your DVR’s. Its “stupid” people like you who ruin good shows. (Not that Harpers Island was good)

    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!
    HENRY IS THE SECOND KILLER!

There you go Robin, its not your fault.

  19. romo

    Darth Vader is Lukes father.

and how much did ABC bother to promote the showing of these final episodes of Eli Stone? not much I believe. I don’t recall seeing any print ads or commercials on tv promoting these final episodes. Lots of commercials for WIPE OUT, but no mention of Eli Stone. I had to check on line to find the air dates for these final few episodes. ABC definitely was NOT promoting Eli Stone, which is a shame. It was a great show. ABC should have just been a little more patient. They choose to think reality shows are the way to go. Well, I’m gone.
