Man, I wish I could be as jaded about The Bachelor and Bachelorette as you guys are. It’s much cooler that way. I, like a sap, watch every season with a dorky belief that “this time they’re going to get it right, by God!”

And if you’ve noticed, the trend they are going with is that an “audience favorite” who is rejected becomes the next Bachelor or Bachelorette. Not to be the show Historian, but Bob, Mary, Trista, Jason, and now Jillian (and I might be forgetting some) are all previous season’s rejects. So that extends their 15 minutes of fame. So there.

The ratings still hold up (most every) season to season, so I must not be the only idealistic goof out there.

And as a media planner buying local spot broadcast TV in the summer, thank goodness there’s something to buy on broadcast right now!

Well, of course, Bill. I’m just joshing with ya.

I reread my earlier comment and realized I’ve made too blanket of a statement – I was referring to the makers of the show more than anything else when I said they’re only in it for exposure. I do think there are some poor sods who go on the show thinking they’ll find someone and The Bachelor’s female contestants seem to be more genuine and sincere about this than the Bachelorette ones, who seem far more likely to be famewhores and entrepreneurs who want to pimp their business ventures or go into showbiz. Except for the ones who already have money, fame, or recognition of some kind (Andrew Firestone, Charlie O’Connell).

If there was any story posted here that would require a “DUH!” I imagine this one would be it. Slow newsday?

Everyone involved in this stupid show, including Fleiss, has never done it for anything except the ratings and the exposure.

Btw, it could be three couples. Not that I ever watch the show consistently, but I think Charlie O’Connell and the woman he picked are also supposedly back together.

The concept of these shows are so dumb. How can you expect to find “true love” with 15 women (or men) fighting to get you. First of all they aren’t meeting the “Real” them. Plus you know the producers fix the show to add drama, which makes for better ratings.

So yes, it’s for the 15 minutes of fame.
