NBC’s “Nightly News” Wins the Week With An 886,000 Lead Over ABC

Note the CBS “lowest ever” adults 25-54 mention.

CBS HAS ITS LOWEST A25-54 DELIVERY IN HISTORY
NEW YORK ? July 21, 2009 ? According to Nielsen Media Research data, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of July 13-19, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast delivered 7.425 million total viewers, +886k more than ABC “World News'” 6.539 million, and +2.304 million more than CBS “Evening News'” 5.121 million. Season-to-date, “Nightly” is the only evening newscast to increase in total viewers and tops “World News” by +829,000 viewers.

“Nightly” has won for 40 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 34 straight weeks in A25-54.

Among the key demographic adults 25-54, “Nightly News” delivered a 1.8 rating, way ahead of ABC’s 1.4 rating and CBS’ 1.1 rating. “Nightly” led “World News” by +460K in the key A25-54 demo for the week. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +337,000 A25-54 viewers.

In homes, “Nightly News” won by increasing to a 5.0 rating and a 11 share. In second place ABC drew a 4.4/10, and CBS posted a 3.6/8.

On its digital platforms, “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” continued its strong performance with more than 3.5 million online streams for the week ending July 18, 2009.
