I’m not surprised that Medium did not do as well on Tuesday. It was never advertised and even my DTV converter box said that Without A Trace was supposed to be on. Same thing with Titan TV online. Only CBS’ website said Medium was going to be on.

I’m confused why CBS doesn’t move that stupid Flashpoint show off Friday NOW and put Medium repeats right after Ghost Whisperer. Even though CBS is promoting Medium much better than NBC did, it still does no used telling people it is on Friday in the fall while showing repeats on Tuesday now.

And for Better Off Ted, ABC is stupid to show that over the summer. I liked that show since the beginning and it seems worthy of a spot on the fall lineup along with Scrubs. The problem with these shows is they premiere midseason against already established shows, like the Mentalist on Tuesday when Scrubs used to be on. ABC hasn’t had a comedy winner because they take their best shows like Samantha Who, Better Off Ted and Scrubs and put them on in stupid time slots and start them at unusual times, when our viewing patterns are already set.

Medium’s numbers don’t seem any worse than they were on NBC. Considering it wasn’t paired with an appropriate lead in and it’s summer, this means nothing. It’s fillings pace and maybe converting a few viewers.

Could airing BOT in the summer be working against the show, and the answer is…..yes. I believe that the series still wont do as well during the regular season as it did finishing up its first season, unfortunately.

j – if I were NBC, and someone told me SVU repeats would cop 2.0 demos in summer, I would have promised him a huge raise, and been happy to pay off yesterday…

…and Robert, if you were NBC, and you had the choice between Southland at 10, or SVU, or Merlin, or Big John, Little John, as backup for AGT, which would you choose? I’d have tried Barney Miller and Taxi, myself, but that’s just me…

Medium came out of nowhere, and did similar numbers to what reruns of FOX’s House and better numbers than ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Desperate Housewives are delivering. So CBS don’t be too quick to pull the plug.

Better off Ted is a big fat loser. I don’t care if ABC doesnt promote it, the numbers are still bad. A repeat of Hitched or Ditched was only 0.3 away in the demo! You know your a bad show when its that close between ABC and The CW.

Looks like Fox is gonna win the summer; it has 2 sometimes-3.0 shows and less hours it has to do it in, while NBC has 1 and ABC has…well, Wipeout and Bachelorette are close sometimes.

I tried watching (again) Superstars last night, and I fully understand why it is doing bad. It’s horrible. Even in reality/competition genre, it’s horrible. I seriously don’t recognize ANYONE on there, let alone want to watch someone (I’ve never heard of) compete in archery. ARCHERY! I would rather watch 2 hours of Kirby Puckett attempting to balance on one leg while knocking the dirt off his cleat with a baseball bat than watch archery!!!

I agree substantially with Don. One more reason that BOT may have been renewed is simply that ABC had already canceled so many of their shows from 2008-9 and was going with so many new shows for 2009-10 that it decided it needed more backup for the inevitable new show flameouts.

ABC may have looked at this spring’s pilots and decided they didn’t have any more good backup options in them, so they had to keep something else from 2008-9 and BOT was it.

Better Off Ted held ok ratings in its timeslot. I know Samantha Who dropped A LOT when its timeslot moved. Plus Better Off Ted is a new show. ABC cant keep cancelling all their shows because they cant get a 3.0 or higher demo. Shows need a chance to grow an audience plus Better Off Ted is never promoted.

Scrubs renewed solely for syndication money. The show is made by ABC Studios and the more episodes produced, the more $$ the company gets. This was why According to Jim kept getting renewed.

Samantha Who? apparently cost a lot. Big stars and big productions costs for a minor success with falling ratings. I mean Christina Applegate got wide press for her health issues, and the show still fell.

Better Off Ted might have gotten a renewal because 20th Century Fox might have cut a deal. Or ABC wanted to give it time to air more than just 6 episodes in case a hit was brewing (like ‘The Office’ S1 on NBC).

On a ratings basis (which correlates to current revenue), all three: Better Off Ted, Scrubs and Samantha Who? should have been canceled.

That SW? was canceled and the other two renewed speaks either to cost (SW? more expensive, the other two cheap) or future revenue potential (Scrubs increasing its value in an already assured syndication sale, where SW? was still too many episodes short of syndication) or both.

I saw the notice for Medium last week. However, it’s weird because CBS is promoting the “new season” on Fridays at 9/8, but they’re showing it at 10/9 on Tuesday. If I were CBS, I’d flip Flashpoint and Medium now, so that people get in routine of Friday. It’s not like they are running new eps of FP.

i agree with Jamie. As much as i like Better Off Ted, i would have rather seen Samantha Who? come back. It did get much better ratings but i heard the show was getting too expensive. Better Off Ted must be cheaper.

Actually, ABC shouldve just ended Scrubs like they were going to and put Samantha Who? with Better Off Ted and see what wouldve happened.

I just dont understand ABC. They made a HUGE mistake when they renewed Scrubs and Better Off Ted and cancelled Samantha Who?…… Sam has constantly got better ratings than either of these even without ANY hype or advertisement….. Sam just wasnt given much of a chance on ABC and thats a real shame…..

anyone wanna place a bet that Medium will be a failure on CBS? judging by those rating, thats pretty low. I realize its a reruns but shouldn’t it do better than reruns do on NBC. yet its about the same numbers as it does on NBC. i think the show is a goner.

CBS decided last week that they would air the previous season’s episodes of Medium on Tuesdays to gain viewers and followers. It started with the season premiere from the 5th season. The announcements were made all over the web, most notably on thefutoncritic.com, but I admit, CBS did a poor job of promoting the reairings this summer. At least it is on at a non-conflicting time slot, 10pm, but I fear that Medium will only garner 4-6 million viewers for these episodes.

When I saw the show running last night, I asked my husband about Medium because he works for a CBS affiliate and he said they were burning off the repeats now on CBS. I watch CBS all the time. It did come out of nowhere. Must have been a quick decision. Did anyone see any ads for it on CBS prior to its showing? I did see one ad for it last night but did not pay close attention. I just thought it was a promotion for the new season. Maybe it wasn’t. Would have been nice for the existing fans to know about it a few days in advance and for the possible new fans too. Unless it was some last minute decision it does seem odd. But nothing networks do these days surprises me. You figure their executives and their promotions people have never watched TV and have no idea how to treat their audience.
