"NBC NIGHTLY NEWS WITH BRIAN WILLIAMS" WINS THE WEEK WITH A 862K LEAD OVER ABC
NEW YORK – July 28, 2009 – According to Nielsen Media Research data, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" was the most-watched network evening newscast, winning the week of July 20-26, 2009. During the week, the Williams-led newscast delivered 7.639 million total viewers, +862K more than ABC "World News'" 6.777 million, and +2.183 million more than CBS "Evening News'" 5.456 million. ABC "World News" is based on a four-day average, Wednesday excluded. Season-to-date, "Nightly" is the only evening newscast to increase in total viewers and tops "World News" by +825,000 viewers.
"Nightly" has won for 41 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and for 35 straight weeks in A25-54.
Among the key demographic adults 25-54, "Nightly News" delivered a 1.8 rating, ahead of ABC's 1.5 rating and CBS' 1.3 rating. "Nightly" led "World News" by +373K in the key A25-54 demo for the week. Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +336,000 A25-54 viewers.
In homes, "Nightly News" won by increasing to a 5.1 rating and a 11 share. In second place ABC drew a 4.6/10, and CBS posted a 3.8/8.
On its digital platforms, "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams" continued its strong performance with more than 2.9 million online streams for the week ending July 25, 2009.
