NICKELODEON TOPS KIDS AND TOTAL VIEWER DEMOS FOR JULY

iCarly is Basic Cable’s Number-One Kids’ Program among Total Viewers in July; SpongeBob SquarePants and The Penguins of Madagascar Top Kids’ Animated Programs for Month

Nickelodeon is basic cable’s top total day network for July with kids and total viewers, averaging 2.3 million total viewers (P2+) and a 3.6/1.3 million kids 2-11.  Nick posted gains of +3% in rating and +5% in delivery among kids 2-11 over last year, and +3% in delivery with total viewers.

Nickelodeon's iCarly is also basic cable’s number-one kids’ program among total viewers for July, according to Nielsen Media Research (6/29/09-7/26/09).  Starring Miranda Cosgrove, iCarly averaged nearly 3.9 million total viewers for the month and is also the number-one show among kids 2-11 and 6-11 year to date.

Nickelodeon is also home to July’s top two animated programs for kids—SpongeBob SquarePants (#1) and The Penguins of Madagascar (#2).  SpongeBob SquarePants, as it celebrates its 10th Anniversary, is also the number-one animated series year to date among kids 2-11 and has been for more than seven years.  Since launch (March 28, 2009), The Penguins of Madagascar has quickly become a hit, averaging more than 24 million total viewers each week across all of its plays on Nick (Source: NMR, Live + 7 Day from 3/28/09; Live + Same Day from 7/6/09-7/12/09, NMR, NPower, Average Weekly CUME).

Year to date, Nickelodeon maintains double-digit leads over its competitors and is the number-one total day network with kids 2-11 and 6-11 and persons 2+.

Additionally, Nick at Nite finished July as the number-one basic cable network among Adults 18-49 (tied with USA in rating) and Women 18-49.  Nicktoons Network had its highest-rated month ever with boys 6-11, while NOGGIN had its most-watched July ever with kids 2-5 and total viewers.  Nicktoons Network averaged a 0.8/46,000 B6-11, up +14% over last year.  NOGGIN averaged a 2.3/234,000 K2-5 and 455,000 total viewers (P2+).
