Another milestone for True Blood!
Ok Twin Peaks, you need help.
Now let’s see if next week goes up, or down. The new episode finally had the old exciting pace back.
Kudos to True Blood!
Love True Blood, although that MaryAnn is getting under my skin.
Yeah, she’s evil.
What are the total numbers for HUNG?
These numbers look mediocre compared to Sex in the City , Sopranos, etc. I was thinking of subscribing to HBO, but these shows, except for True Blood, seem to be nothing to write home about. Not even buzzworthy, after the obligatory USA Today and Entertainment Weekly puff pieces.
Yay! It cracked 4 million. And the reason it’s nothing compared to those numbers is because HBO has lost a lot of subscribers since then. Less subscribers means less viewers. Though True Blood has been doing wonders for HBO, and while it’s still not what it used to be, it might just get back there. Entourage and Hung aren’t very good. They need another quality show other than Big Love (but I don’t think that pulls awesome numbers either, does it?)
Nick, you’re wrong about HBO subscriber numbers. They have been surprisingly stable for quite some time. I’d have thought they’d have gone down post Sopranos and Sex and The City, but they’ve pretty much hung in there.
True Blood is amazing ! Had HBO Canada until the beginning (because it’s free with The Movie Network), but never really watched it before that show came on.
Jay, those are just live viewers. When HBO OnDemand is counted in and other platforms, True Blood’s ratings skyrocket to 10 million. Don’t forget in the early days of The Sopranos, they didn’t have OnDemand, so no wonder they had ratings as high as 13 million. Also, HBO has Bored to Death, Treme and Boardwalk Empire in development. I don’t like Entourage anymore. Hung is entertaining though.

In related news, Time Warner’s earnings dropped 34% due to poor earnings from the advertising and DVD markets. But, I wonder how this could be considering True Blood’s DVD sales are so high and HBO is owned by Time Warner. On a positive note, TW’s cable networks where HBO’s subscription revenue rose 8%. I have a feeling HBO’s rise in subscriptions has everything to do with True Blood.
Yeah, but A) if you add DVR & stuff to a # of shows the ratings go up, and B) if a show were run multiple times clearly the ratings would go up. Look at Spongebob, or NCIS.
True but HBO counts those ratings whereas ad supported cable and broadcast tv do not.
Well, given the full-out orgy scene in the last episode, I’d say it’s no surprise True Blood numbers are going up.
Can’t wait to see how Sam gets out of this one with his head intact. And his girl friend’s switch was a surprise to me.

Also, Alan Ball told that Mike Ausiello that we’ll be seeing the beginnings of an Eric/ Sookie relationship real soon! I say this because that will make the ratings go through the roof!
I figured I would join the world of online narcissists and give my opinion that matters more than any others. Muhahahahaha! True Blood is not the masterpiece people make it out to be. I am a fan of sex but the show has a moment of something interesting then jumps into a sex scene way to often. Rawr!!! Scary monster lets have sex! Maybe Quagmire writes and directs it. Entourage seems like the same old tune and way too short of a show. I don’t think True Blood would have as much fanbase if the Twilight film wasn’t forced upon us! Positive moment: Sookie naked!
I was going to say to whoever said that HBO’s subscriber base went down that was wrong, but you beat me to it Bill. I believe in the SaTC/Sopranos heyday they were at 30 million subscribers, and the most recent number I saw was between 29 and 30 million, so yes, no loss.
Also, the New York Times has said that True Blood is the most popular show in terms of total viewership since SaTC/Sopranos.
Great news, is this a True blood high? 4 Mil?
