UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – July 30, 2009 – NBC's "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien" has won the July 20-24 week over all broadcast and cable competition in adults 18-49, beating CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" on five of five nights in late-night's key demo. Conan has won 35 of 35 nights over "Late Show" with original telecasts since his June 1 debut (including a tie).

"Tonight" delivered bigger audiences than "Late Show" last week in every key demographic: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

Conan also won five of five nights over ABC's "Nightline" in adults 18-49 and took the hour over ABC in all key demographics versus "Nightline" and the first half of "Jimmy Kimmel Live." In addition to topping all broadcast competition for the week, "Tonight's" 1.3 million adults 18-49 out-scored every cable network in the hour, as well as Comedy Central's 11 p.m. ET telecast of "The Daily Show" and the 11:30 series "The Colbert Report."

Conan led Letterman for the week by a 29 percent margin in adults 18-49 and an 89 percent margin in adults 18-34.

The median age of Conan's audience last week was 46.6, 10 years younger than Letterman's 57.0 and "Nightline's" 57.3. Conan's audience is also younger than it was a year ago on "Late Night," where the median age of his audience for this same week one year ago was 48.6.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" led CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" last week by a 17 percent margin in 18-49 and a 42 percent margin in adults 18-34. Since his March 2 debut, Jimmy has ranked #1 or tied for #1 versus Ferguson in 18-49 on 97 of 100 nights. Last week, Jimmy also attracted a bigger audience in the valuable 18-34 demographic than did Letterman, despite Jimmy's later start time.

At 1:35 a.m. ET, encore telecasts of "Last Call with Carson Daly" (0.3 rating in 18-49, 0.2 in 18-34) tied ABC's mostly original "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in both 18-49 and 18-34 rating. Kimmel was in rebroadcast on Monday.

For the week of July 20-24, Conan's average 1.294 million adults 18-49 topped the 1.000 million of Letterman; in total viewers, Conan's audience of 2.508 million persons trailed Letterman's 3.320 million; and in adults 18-34, Conan's 626,000 million out-scored Letterman's 331,000. At 12:35 a.m. ET, Jimmy Fallon's 650,000 adults 18-49 for the week out-delivered Ferguson's 557,000; in total viewers, Jimmy's 1.214 million trailed Ferguson's 1.520 million; and in adults 18-34, Jimmy's 337,000 topped Ferguson's 238,000.
