Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb lead Disney to No. 1 primetime cable net on Friday

Driven by “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Phineas and Ferb,” Disney Channel is Friday’s No. 1 TV Net in Target Kids, and Cable’s No. 1 Net in Prime in Viewers

Featuring all new episodes of “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Phineas and Ferb,” Disney Channel ranked as Friday’s No. 1 TV network for the entire day in Kids 6-11 (966,000/4.0 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (819,000/3.4 rating), and cable’s No. 1 network in Prime in Total Viewers (3.3 million).

Impressively, Friday’s original “Phineas and Ferb” became the show’s second-most-watched episode ever in Total Viewers (3.7 million) and Tweens 9-14 (1.5 million/6.0 rating), behind only its series debut in February 08, and registered its third-best numbers ever in Kids 6-11 (1.7 million/7.1 rating).  Moreover, Friday’s telecast was the show’s No. 1 telecast of all time in Boys 9-14 (630,000/5.1 rating).

  • In target kid demos, “Wizard of Waverly Place” and “Phineas and Ferb” were Friday’s Top 2 TV telecasts, with Disney Channel home to the Top 7 telecasts overall for the day in Kids 6-11, and the Top 8 in Tweens 9-14.
  • In Total Viewers, led by “Wizards of Waverly Place” (4.8 million), Disney Channel delivered a majority 5 of Friday’s Top 10 telecasts on all cable.  In fact, among all TV, “Wizards” qualified as Friday’s No. 2 scripted telecast overall.
  • TV’s dominant No. 1 program at 8 o’clock, Wizards of Waverly Place” overshadowed runner up CBS by a solid 9% in Total Viewers (4.8 million vs. 4.4 million), while more than doubling Nickelodeon’s performance in the half hour in Kids 6-11 (2.0 million vs. 829,000) and more than tripling in Tweens 9-14 (2.0 million vs. 594,000).
  • At 9 o’clock, “Phineas and Ferb” was easily TV’s No. 1 program with kids, doubling runner up Nickelodeon in Kids 6-11 (1.7 million vs. 822,000) and tripling in Tweens 9-14 (1.5 million vs. 496,000).  In Total Viewers, “Phineas and Ferb” was cable’s No. 1 show in the half hour, and TV’s No. 2 scripted program.
