Ah, Friday... Only 49 days until we'll reporting on the Dollhouse premiere!
At 8pm, Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? narrowly edged out a Ghost Whisperer rerun among 18-49 year olds at 8pm, with Ghost Whisperer having more viewers (half-hourly details below). Dateline NBC cruised to victory in the 9pm and 10pm hours. I'm guessing more Michael Jackson coverage, but I could be wrong (didn't watch), it just seems like Dateline NBC has been milking that.
The Goode Family bowed at in its series finale at 9:30pm with a 0.4 rating with adults 18-49

Definitions:
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.
Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)
Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Dateline wasn’t Michael Jackson, it was about some lady who went missing. Flipped past it last night after I got back from GI Joe
May I ask…Is there any confirmation that Surviving Suburbia and The Goode Family is finished? I’d like Surviving Suburbia back…The Goode Family..if it’s back I’ll watch it, if not then I ain’t sad….
Zach, The Goode Family is definitely done. I don’t think there’s been any official word on Surviving Suburbia, though my guess is we will just never hear anything about it again rather than getting any formal announcement on its fate.
My guess is a lot of people were watching Monk and Psych. I was. I have to praise USA. They promote the heck out of their shows. Last of the season: Law and Order: Criminal Intent and In Plain Sight on Sunday. They made sure we knew that.
Yeah Robert, I looked at The Goode Family and it’s done fairly sure, unless they do another Better Off Ted…But Surviving Suburbia has grabbed a few more viewers so it is possible I guess. Catherine, I’d agree since this is the last season for Monk….Love the site! Never commented, but think I’ll start.
monk and psych were awesome
i missed them last night because i was at my friend’s watching whale wars but i just watched the repeats they showed cant wait till next friday
Are FOX total viewer numbers not just an average? Or are they weighted for the missing hour? Because I get 3.83 based on the break-outs, not 3.65. Apologies if there’s some secret formula I can’t know.
this hurts my eyes
Cabri, I need to put standard disclaimers in for the Friday night and Saturday night reports, where we don’t usually see the data directly and are getting it via Marc Berman. There are often cases on the weekend where the numbers don’t add up.
Your math is correct, the numbers aren’t. But I can’t say whether the network average was entered wrong or whether one (or more) of the half hour numbers for FOX was entered incorrectly and won’t know until Monday, by which time I will have forgotten all about it
tdot: maybe you should try look at the numbers with these.
Per the futon critic, Suburbia and Goode Family are definitely dead. It was announced by Steve McPherson at the TCA.

good catch, zzzoe, thanks. Was behind on my TCA reading and everything I’d seen about ABC’s Mcpherson’s presentation had been about Paula Abdul and Katherine Heigle!
I’m one of the few that watched every episode of the Goode Family. It grew on me and got better as it went along. It’s obviously over but I’m wondering how it would have done on the Sunday animation block on Fox. It just didn’t fit on ABC and had no shot at success.
Rob D., we’ll never know. It seems current relations between Fox and Judge are not good or Goode either
Perhaps Fox not picking up The Goode Family to begin with played in somewhere, no idea. Now Fox isn’t even planning to air the final episodes of KoTH that they already paid for.
FOX may have just outraged fans! They are gonna syndicate the finale (KoTH)…I hope I get to see it…
I thought Fox is looking at a new animation from Judge? Or is it from someone else involved with KOTH? Will have to go check my own TCA reading.
Edit: Ok, it’s Bob’s Burgers from a KOTH writer, but not Judge.
The Game was a 0.4 demo according to Marc Berman. The 0.6 originally reported was a mistake. An 0.4 for the 9:30 episode of The Goode Family as well.
thanks, RJ, post updated…
Yep.
They should put Goode Family behind Lost, or Desperate Housewives.
