I'm not sure the maneuver will boost Shark Tank much, or help ABC's summertime weekly 18-49 ratings blues, but the network announced it was replacing the Castle repeat originally scheduled for this Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 10pm with a repeat of the premiere of Shark Tank.
Here's the release:
A CHEF BELIEVES HIS FAMILY’S PIE RECIPE HAS ALL THE INGREDIENTS
TO BECOME A PROFITABLE CULINARY TREAT, ON ABC’S “Shark Tank”
“Episode 101” –- The entrepreneurs vying for the Sharks’ attention this week include a chef who believes his family’s pie recipe has all the ingredients to become a profitable culinary treat, an inventor with a technological gadget he hopes will take the world by storm, and a nanny who is confident that she has come up with a fun, easy way for children to take their medicine, on “Shark Tank,” SATURDAY, AUGUST 15 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. (Rebroadcast: OAD: 8/9/09)
Note: This program replaces the episode of “Castle” that had been scheduled to air.
The Sharks of “Shark Tank” are real estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, “infomercial” industry pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology innovator Robert Herjavec, fashion icon Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O’Leary.
“Shark Tank” is broadcast with Spanish subtitles via secondary closed captioning. This program carries a TV-PG parental guideline.

So they might be trying it out to move to to Saturdays permanently? Or maybe they’ll just air it twice a week.
You know, networks should do the “Test run” to Saturdays more often before moving a show. RIGHT NBC….?
dragon’s den is way better
Adam, my guess is they are looking to expose more people to Shark Tank right now while it’s new since they plan to have it on their fall schedule through October.
Might have had better luck if it was named CASTLE BLOOD.
Give it up, ABC, nobody cares about the show. The fact that the network will be giving it up anyway in November when “V” is now slated to begin in the Tuesday 8 pm spot that “Shark Tank” is planned to inherit in September is a sure sign right away, besides the tepid ratings, that no one has any real interest in the show. My guess is ABC will abandon it before the fall season start and rush in a pair of sitcoms – or at least they should rush in a pair of sitcoms, any two new and\or returning ones that might be ready to start airing that soon.
If I put on my PT Barnum, give them what they want til they choke on it hat, I’d say Shark Tank has a much higher chance of success than Castle, or any sitcom they may have not yet scheduled for fall.
Robert, ABC definitely wants to expose more people to Shark Tank and I believe that it will stick on the tuesday 8:00 schedule until V premieres, however while all eps are likely to air, the series could get axed if ratings dont improve. Also Castle has gotten a lot of exposure this summer and is scheduled to air 4 more repeats anyway before the season premiere on September 21.
So, is this a bad move or a good move for Castle? Is ABC happy with how Castle has been repeating?
