Last week, for the third time this summer, ABC scored the lowestamong the viewers it most seeks — those between the ages of 18 and 49 — that any broadcast network has ever posted:
ABC averaged a 1.1 rating in that group, a score it also posted twice earlier this summer. It even trailed the Spanish-language network Univision, which scored a 1.2 rating in that group. (ABC also had just 3.5 million viewers overall–CBS had 6.2 million; NBC had 5.9 million; Fox had 5.3 million.)
Only one other time had a broadcast network had a week that fared so poorly with that young adult audience. It was ABC that time too. Last summer ABC crashed to a 1.1 rating on one occasion, but that was against the huge attraction of the Summer Olympics on NBC.
