Nickelodeon’s iFight Shelby Marx Special Ranks as Week’s Top Cable Program With 7.9 Million Total Viewers and Leads Nickelodeon to First Place Finish in Total Day Among Basic Cable Nets
iFight Shelby Marx Scores Clean Sweep among Kids and Tweens
Nickelodeon’s iCarly one-hour special “iFight Shelby Marx” (Saturday, Aug. 16, 8-9:00 p.m. ET/PT) ranked as basic cable’s top-rated program and television’s number-one kids’ program for the week (8/3/09-8/9/08), drawing 7.9 million viewers (P2+), according to Nielsen. The special also scored a clean sweep among all kid demos, averaging a 12.1/4.3 million K2-11 (+384%), a 16.4/3.5 million K6-11, (+483%) and a 14.2/3.1 million T9-14 (+788%).
With triple-digit gains in every demo against both Nick’s own time period average and direct programming competition from other networks, the iCarly special “iFight Shelby Marx” helped fuel a winning week for Nickelodeon. Nick was the top-ranked basic cable network in total day with kids 2-11 and total viewers, drawing 2.5 viewers (P2+) (source: NMR, 8/3/09 – 8/9/09, Live + Same Day). For the week, Nickelodeon drew 7 out of the top 10 kid-targeted telecasts (iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants) with total viewers.
