Weekly Ratings Highlights for August 10-16, 2009

Dominating the TV charts and posting double-digit percent increases year to year, Disney Channel ranked as TV’s No. 1 network in Total Day for the 14th consecutive week in Tweens 9-14 (654,000/2.7 rating) and for the 8th consecutive week in Kids 6-11 (779,000/3.2 rating), surpassing runner-up Nickelodeon (525,000 and 721,000) by 25% and 8%, respectively.  Additionally, the network out-performed year-ago averages by an impressive 25% in Total Viewers (2.0 million vs. 1.6 million), by 22% in Kids 6-11 (779,000 vs. 638,000) and by 25% in Tweens 9-14 (654,000 vs. 523,000).

In Prime, Disney Channel’s reign as cable’s No. 1 network neared the 4-and-a-half year mark, earning its 229th consecutive win in Kids 6-11 (1.2 million/4.7 rating) and 225th in Tweens 9-14 (921,000/3.8 rating).  In Total Viewers, Disney Channel was the week’s second-most-watched network (2.8 million).

  • In Tweens 9-14, Disney Channel delivered the week’s Top 12 TV telecasts, and 19 of the Top 20, led by original airings of “Sonny with a Chance” (No. 1 – 1.5 million/6.3 rating, 8:00 – 8:30 p.m.), “The Suite Life on Deck” (No. 2 – 1.5 million/6.0 rating, 8:35 – 9:00 p.m.) and “JONAS” (1.4 million/5.6 rating, 8:30 – 9:00 p.m.).
  • In Kids 6-11, Disney Channel aired 9 of the week’s Top 10 TV telecasts, and 18 of the Top 20, fronted by “The Suite Life on Deck” (No. 1 - 1.8 million/7.2 rating, 8:35 – 9:00 p.m.) and “Sonny with a Chance” ( No. 2T - 1.6 million/6.6 rating, 8:00 – 8:30 p.m.).
  • Friday’s all-new “Phineas and Ferb” (9:00 – 9:30 p.m.) qualified as TV’s No. 1 animated telecasts in Kids 6-11 (1.6 million/6.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.2 million/4.8 rating).
  • Playhouse Disney’s “Mickey Mouse Clubhouseplaced among the week’s Top 5 TV shows in target Kids 2-5 demo (No. 5 - 502,000/3.1 rating).  Add “Handy Manny” (No. 7 – 486,000/3.0 rating), “Special Agent Oso” (No. 8 – 473,000/2.9 rating) and “Imagination Movers” (No. 9 – 470,000/2.9 rating), and Playhouse Disney series accounted for 4 of TV’s Top 10 programs overall in the key preschool demo.
