the closer

TNT’s The Closer was again cable’s top show and by a wide margin with 7.313 million viewers (note, this is for Monday, August 17, not last night's summer finale which will appear next week) but there was no new iCarly this week!...

Once again, even without a new Burn Notice, In Plain Sight or Law & Order Criminal Intent, USA Network still led cable during primetime both in viewers and adults 18-49 for the week, though with NFL preseason action and Red Sox/Yankees baseball, ESPN was a close second for the week among 18-49 year olds.

USA’s WWE Raw once again took the second and sixth spots and Royal Pains and Monk grabbed the third and fifth spots.   An NCIS rerun was 11th (and 15th, 19th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 25th .

The network premiere of Project Runway on Lifetime snagged the 10th spot and Lifetime also placed Army Wives at number 17.

Sponge Bob absorbed the 13th spot and Disney placed three shows on the list with airings of Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place.

***I HAVE NOT YET SEEN THE NUMBERS FOR True Blood AS OF THIS WRITING*** but will post them as soon as I do. HOLY MOLY -- another record with 5.3 millionIt was the third most-watched cable show for the week (5.332 million).

I haven't seen the merged list yet, but by my accounting True Blood would've been the #5 show on cable for the week.  And when you consider that HBO is only in about 1/3rd of the homes most basic cable networks have access to, that's impressive.  Will it get to Sopranos style impressive? It's certainly trending in that direction.  The  Sopranos was often the #1 show on all of cable, despite being available in relative few homes.

Terrell Owen’s The T.O. Show (not in the top 25!) scored 1.579 million   viewers last Monday (Aug 17) at 10pm, up over the previous week's 1.415 million.

For those wanting more detail on Mad Men’s Sunday second episode, the 10pm airing drew 1.91 million, a rebroadcast at 11:02p pulled in another 765,000 and still another 193,000 at 1am.

Some other fan favorites NOT in the top 25

TNT:  Hawthorne (3.515M), Raising The Bar (3.465), Leverage (3.428) and the season finale of Saving Grace (3.162).  Dark Blue again lagged with only 2.566

ABC Family: Secret Life (3.304M), Make It or Break It (2.311M), 10 Thing I Hate (1.229M), My Fake Fiance (1.0M), Ruby & The Rockits (988K).

Syfy: Warehouse 13 (3.273M), Ghost Hunters (2.54M), Eureka (1.989M), ECW (1.74M)

Bravo: Real Housewives of Atlanta (2.822M), Top Chef (2.592M), Top Chef Masters (2.42M), Flipping Out (1.02M)

  1. cool

    TB had 5.3 million viewers.

  2. Terry

Any numbers on Being Human??? Thanks

  3. DutchGuy

I think 10 Things I Hate About You, Ruby & The Rockits and Dark Blue will be cancelled, they have such low ratings… And those Bravo crap series have nice ratings… Oh oh oh America…

  4. Jon

Out of all the TNT shows, I think Dark Blue is mostly likely to get axed and while Raising the Bar is doing slightly better than Leverage, it has a massive lead in from The Closer and loses over 50% of its audience.

Spongebob and NCIS are definetly kings of reruns. I don’t think there will another show that will repeat as well as these two.

  5. chrisjozo

I’m glad Royal pains is holding steady on its own and I’m glad that Psych is back in the top 20 for a second week. Leverage and Warehouse 13 aren’t doing too bad either.

  6. sigurdursveinn

can you tell me about rescue me

  7. RJ

Do you have the numbers for the highest episode of Chelsea Lately? Also, Comedians of Chelsea Lately. Thanks if you do! :)

  8. I keep forgetting about Rescue Me….it was in T.O. Show range w/1.538M. RJ, Chelsea’s best was 866K (Tues) . You probably shouldn’t ask about Comedians again — it only did 511K and worse even than several REPEATS of CL.

  9. RJ

866,000 viewers seems a bit low for Chelsea Lately. Comedians is a disater in the ratings (and it isnt that good either). Thanks Robert.

  10. kirra

Any number for season finale of Ice Road Truckers?

Happy to see Psych back up, but I’m starting to lose interest in it. It seems like pure fluff now.

  11. Kirra finale of Ice Road Truckers averaged 2.825M, down a bit from the season premiere (3.018 million) .

  12. Hey, I would like to see how the Science Channel’s show “Brink” did last week. It airs Mondays at 10:30. Last night was the final episode as the show has been canceled, but I’d like to see how bad the numbers are for the channel to cancel their best show. Thanks!

  13. Delsy

Its funny how Wizards ratings are going down again i am beginning to realise a pattern.

  14. Number Cruncher

Given all the VH1 drama going on this past week I would like to know how My Antonio did on Sunday.

That True Blood number is absolutely astounding. My friend just got me started watching 2 weeks ago and I’m almost caught up. It’s still surprising how well the show is doing though.

  15. Jon

Chelsea Lately is doing fine and it’s got 3 more years so unless Chelsea get poached to host The Late Show or Tonight Show then she’s going remain on E! until 2012.

  16. Anthony, they were pretty bad, the 1:30am repeat (104,000) outdrew the 10:30pm airing (84,000)

  17. Do you have ratings for Making His Band, P.Diddy StarMaker or Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami? Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  18. Ron

Could I found out the ratings for the Futurama movie encore on Sunday night on Comedy Central?

And, wow, has Jon & Kate fallen out of the Top 25?

  19. @Number Cruncher, 800K.

  20. Number Cruncher

Thanks. That’s actually not shocking to me at all.
