Last night Leverage averaged 3.73 million viewers, Dark Blue doomed?

from our pal TVBill on Twitter:

Freshly renewed LEVERAGE up a tad last nite w/ 3.73 mil viewers, 1.1/3 A1849. Dark Blue basically flat - now retains only 64% of LEV's demo.

Leverage's renewal never seemed in doubt.  Dark Blue is a different animal with a .7 A18-49 rating.  We don't regularly see enough data to calculate renew/cancel indexes for cable shows, but based on limited data, I'd guess the .7 is in the range of bad news, or at the very least, on the bubble.  Last week, for the full week in primetime, TNT averaged a .8 rating with adults 18-49 so Dark  Blue was below last week's average this week. That doesn't mean it will be canceled, but it's sure not a good indicator.

I’ve worked out what Dark Blue got based on the percentages and it’s about 2.38 or 2.39 so it’s the lowest rated of the TNT shows so its chances are slim for renewal and although Raising the Bar is averaging over 3m it’s retention from The Closer is less than 50% which is quite bad and I don’t see being renewed either.

Both Dark Blue and Raising the Bar should be cancelled. TNT most likely has new shows that can fill in those timeslots.

I don’t have the viewer numbers for DARK BLUE last night, just the A18-49 (which was 0.7/2). Retention rate of 64% in demo doesn’t necessarily mean 64% retention of viewers. (Last week, DARK BLUE’s viewer retention was 75%, while it’s demo retention was 89%). Regardless, renewal’s not looking good methinks. :-)

Sorry about that Bill, thought it was the viewers rather than demo.

i think they should ditch raising the bar, its had two chances, and give dark blue the post closer slot to see what happens i never really watched dark blue but started DVRing it and really like it now, its just so different in tone from leverage

  6. I think Dark Blue is one of the best shows on TV. This is a show that would fit in perfectly with the CBS lineup and if CXL’ed they should pick it up. It a really compelling piece of televison that that tells its story with many grey shades. I really do like it quite a bit.

I watched episode 1 of Dark Blue and decided it was not for me. I found it to be too dark, no pun intended. I feel this overwhelming sense of dread when I watch it and thus am not entertained. I had high hopes too.

  9. As far as Dark Blue goes I agree its pilot episode was OK at best, but the rest of the episodes have really been quite good. It not fair to judge a show on its pilot as many get much better as it goes along. That has been the case with this show for me.

Agreed, Dark Blue keeps on improving with new episodes, it’s not as good as Leverage, but it’s definitly better than Raising the bar…

  11. Dark Blue can be a little over the top at times, but it really is a good show. The acting is good, the pacing is great, and the stories are generally intriguing.

Dark Blue is a great program. I’m locked into TNT with Leverage & Dark Blue for a two hour block. Change the time slot if the numbers don’t work.

Are you listening TNT Love DARK BLUE.

  15. RJ

An 0.7 demo is tied for last with Raising the Bar IIRC. Bye bye to both RTB and Dark Blue.

I’m with RSH, we need a new picture.

I don’t see why they thought it was a good pairing with Leverage and Dark Blue. Leverage is a very light-hearted drama, while Dark Blue (bare in mind I’ve only seen the commercials) features Dylan McDermott yelling all the time.

Maybe if they did a Dark Blue and Saving Grace pairing: two strong cops, one male, one female, both shows could have been saved.

Thank you Robert! You’re the best ;)
