SUMMER GLAU MOVES INTO JOSS WHEDON’S “DOLLHOUSE”
ALEXIS DENISOF, JAMIE BAMBER, MICHAEL HOGAN AND KEITH CARRADINE MAKE GUEST APPEARANCES DURING SEASON TWO
Series Returns Friday, September 25, on FOX
Summer Glau (“Firefly,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) reunites with Joss Whedon when the actress joins the cast of DOLLHOUSE this fall in a recurring role as BENNETT, a Dollhouse employee who shares a past with ECHO (Eliza Dushku). The second season of DOLLHOUSE premieres Friday, Sept. 25 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
Additional guest stars appearing throughout the upcoming second season include Alexis Denisof (“Angel”), Jamie Bamber (“Battlestar Galactica”), Michael Hogan (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Keith Carradine (“Dexter”). DANIEL PERRIN (Denisof) is a U.S. senator leading a witch hunt to track down the underground organization. Mysterious, charismatic businessman MARTIN KLAR (Bamber) is Echo’s new husband. BRADLEY KARRENS (Hogan) comes to the Dollhouse hoping to stop a psychotic family member’s killing spree, while MATTHEW HARDING (Carradine), a nemesis of Dollhouse leader ADELLE DEWITT (Olivia Williams), stirs up trouble. Additionally, DR. CLAIRE SAUNDERS/WHISKEY (Amy Acker) and MADELINE/NOVEMBER (Miracle Laurie) return this season in multiple-episode arcs.
DOLLHOUSE is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created by Joss Whedon, who also serves as executive producer, writer and director. Tim Minear and David Solomon are executive producers, while Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas are co-executive producers. Additionally, series star Eliza Dushku serves as a producer.

It’ll be interesting to see how the Terminator TSCC fans react to this one.
indeed.
From one flop show to another…I’d probably feel sorry for her, but I have no clue how this relatively talentless actress gets the gigs she does.
Well, they’re combining the one part of T:SCC that didn’t suck with the parts of Dollhouse that didn’t suck either (I think. The point is they clearly rejected eps1-5 by ep 6…) This might work!
This will inch us ever closer to the geek singularity.
I was waiting for this, Whedon loves his Summer and being that she is unemployed, heh, it was just a matter of time, I’ll watch it anyway atleast now I get my glaufix too.
Some relief now for me being a T:SCC fan. Get my Summer fix back on Friday’s but it does not totally relieve the pain. Will THIS show get cancelled now?
I was JUST going to say the same thing as you, Mr. The Canadian, that it was just a matter of time. I wonder when James Marsters will join the cast.
And Joe, the answer is yes. It has nothing to do with Summer, but I don’t think the show has much of a chance. Who knows though, with their bare-bones budget, maybe cable will pick it up when it fails on the network level.
Nathan Fillion had a similar curse until “Castle” (though the verdict is still out on that one being relatively successful. Every show he’d been attached to died. Remember “Two Guy, A Girl, & A Pizza Place”? How about “Miss Match”? No? What about “Drive”, “Firefly” (obviously)?
isnt James Marsters already slated for season 2 of Dollhouse or was it season 2 of Lie to Me ?
Dollhouse mention number three for the day!
Yeah… still not watching Dollhouse. They need to replace Eliza, and perhaps the writers too.
Even if it got better, (or even watchable) the show is still going to be burned off on Fridays like the two sitcoms it has for a lead.
Can Whedon not find anybody new to put in his shows? Must they all come from his other failures?
Re-hires for me are one of those lesser annoying gimmicks (by yeah, still a gimmick). I don’t mind when Kevin Smith does it either.
@T: Marsters is on Lie To Me & Caprica.
I for one am thrilled they worked it out. I knew they were trying to find a role for Summer and that she didn’t want to play a doll.
There are a lot of directors, writers ect who like to work repeatedly with certain actors. M. Night Shyamalan comes to mind as does Martin Scorcese, Woody Allen and Tim Burton. Alfred Hitchcock certainly did it. If you find a group of talented people that you enjoy working with I don’t see the problem with it. Its not as if he has filled Dollhouse only with actors he’s previously worked with.
i think i read somewhere that she is playing another Doll but one from another Dollhouse
As a TSCC fan im annoyed she would go on this awful show but i understand its a job for her. She is so much better than this show though
Oh no, awful news. One of my fav actresses on tv in years ends up on one of the worst shows in years. The only thing worse would be if she was on FRINGE…
Sad
Dollhouse already posted great DVR numbers, which gave it a second season on the network. The addition of Summer is one of many positive steps that should allow this show to turn the corner. If nothing else, DVR numbers will now be off the charts and rightfully so: she is a talented young lady who has consistently shown
a willingness to embrace paths others would not venture to attempt.
JP, there is no proof that DVR numbers secured Dollhouse’s second season. Lower costs seemed to be the far bigger deal. We’ll have a better idea of the role DVR plays (assuming the DVR numbers are as good as last year, or better) if the show gets a back 9 order. If it doesn’t get a back 9 order and has similar DVR numbers to last year, we’ll have the idea that DVR numbers are only good for press releases. Really, we already have that idea, but a full season pickup of Dollhouse would work towards changing our minds.
One other thing to keep in mind, Dollhouse fared relatively better in the C3 commercial ratings (live plus 3 days DVR) than other shows, but that was a result of the “Remote Free” set up with fewer commercials. This year, Dollhouse will not have fewer commercials than a typical show, so it very likely will not have relatively better C3 numbers this year.
