Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Not surprised, but here in boston ABC and CBS local news had Ted kennedy live coverage from 8-10

    NBC had coverage from 10-11

please excuses me if some of this information could be wrong

  2. Note to Chief. We may well employ such a format ourselves, but it can wait until after labor day….Sorry (and I appreciate the effort, but…)

  3. Joe R, I’m sure the results are a bit more preliminary than normal..

  4. Oscar

    not in ny

The photo you guys use for AGT always cracks me up. The Hoff looks like Frankenstein’s monster.

  6. CP

Sharon looks like she’s shooting someone. Wipeout’s lead-in wasn’t good enough apparently for Crash Course. A lot of people left.

  7. Rick

Who wants to watch an old drunk sexual assaulter and murderer’s funeral just because he inherited enough money to buy a Senate seat for 47 years. I’d rather watch Whoopie Goldberg drooling over Baba Wawa.

  8. tdubya

GAWD from 8-10, dang, what did they find to talk about for that long?

  9. Jason X

Where’s the coverage of Mary Jo Kopechne?

  10. rUFUS

Personally, I would rather watch pictures of natural disasters than anything about the drunk fatboy murderer from Massachusetts. Anyone wanting RATINGS would do an total review of his history of rutting about….and include the famous Chris Dodd/Teddy Kennedy “waitress sandwich” episode of 1985 when these two worthless drunks assaulted a waitress while their “dates” were in the bathroom.

Camelot was a fictional fantasy. Ted Kennedy is a ledgend in his own mind. RIP playboy. May your body become fertilizer like your mind was over your lifetime.

HOW ABOUT A NEW SHOW CALLED “Congress has Talent”…and then try to find any amongst the senators and reps. Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Ann Coulter could be the judges.

  12. jtsgrandmom

What a handy dandy little devise, that remote. Obama, Ted Kennedy, 26 days of Michael Jackson, and the like .. “click!” and SEE YA! I have no idea what planet media and congress are on but it sure as heck aint earth’s terra firma. For most people, TK’s demise ranges from “So what?” to “Hurray and Hallelujah!”
All the good air time they will lose on him. Yawn and btw, hurray and hallelujah. Let us enjoy this little respite between birth right royalty Mass. Kennedy’s, okay? No doubt, Mass. forgot somehow that their forefathers overthrew the monarch and his aristcracy.

I am sorry he died as he did, but I do not really care to watch people act like he was really great. He has been around long enough. Dying in the only job you ever had is admirable unless it takes money from people to give to other people in the case of FAIRNESS. If you do not work you do not eat, and even more so with your personal health, whether you are fat, or lazy, or do not work at all, soory but ask GOD for your sustenance not me through someone in the govenment making me pay for your keep.

  14. no surprise, he been brain dead for over 60 years

  15. MinniePearlJam

Apparently it’s news to the media that no one outside of the northeast gives a crap about Tedd Kennedy. You can try all you want. You can’t polish a turd.

  16. Dave, NYC

I was soooooo bored I started watching reruns of Andy Griffith…get a life networks!

  17. huh?

Who wants to watch the NE media blubber about Kennedy?

They said he died with only a 51% approval rating. That would include those who “somewhat approve.”
A lot of those folks also “highly disapprove” of the Democrats’ health care “reform” that they now want everyone to vote for out of pity for Teddy.

Using Teddy as a last ditch effort to pass a bad deal for America is going to drive his sorry approval ratings into the ground with him.
Have the Democrats NO SHAME at all?

  18. NoParty

Many of us lived through the Kennedy tragedies, but Chappaquiddick was not one of them. That was the proof that Justice has a very blind spot when it comes to the chosen few….the elite. Ted Kennedy did a lot of things we lesser mortals would have spent time in the slammer for, but he sailed through life as if he had carte blanche to use and abuse. In re-reading the events that happened which resulted in Mary Jo Kopechne’s life, I am struck at how singularly uninterested, and unemotional Ted was in giving his statement a few days later, and how calculating and bizarre his behavior was the night. Couple that with Gargan and Markham, both lawyers, and their omissions in not trying to get her help, it is sickening. While he wasn’t OJ, the lack of justice for Mary Jo was as vile as that for Ron Goldman and OJ’s wife. If people are thinking Kennedy will rescue the very flawed Health Care plan, written by questionable people, they might just re-read the saga of Chappaquiddick .

  19. deroy

we are NOT interested in Ed Kenendy.

how about some coverage on Mary Jo?
or maybe the 54 MILLION abortions that he supported.

  20. Biffula

A show worshipping the the socialist, drunken, murdering criminal Ted Kennedy. Freakin disgusts me. ABC is so out of touch.
