No surprise that The Jay Leno Show would line up some big guests for its premiere week, but in addition to Jerry Seinfeld guesting September 14 when the show premieres, Tom Cruise is the guest for the second episode, Miley Cyrus (and Robin Williams) for the third episode, Halle Berry for the fourth episode with a bonus of musical guests Bruce Hornsby and Eric Clapton. Good line-up for the first week…should be interesting.
Great Line-up, cant wait!
Plus Leno will offer something none of the other late night shows do. Good jokes. From a regular guy not a cranky weirdo.
10 at 10 isn’t a ripoff of the Top 10 list is it?
Kevin: No, it’s not. 10 at 10 is when celebrities answer a series of 10 ridiculous celebrity-based questions.
Great Guests 4 lenno.
Dave: So it’s sort of a ripoff from Conan’s Celebrity Survey?
^ Uhhhh, not really, since the answers aren’t going to be made up…and there’s 10 questions……..
Well, that doesn’t sound much better. I think stealing Letterman’s idea, but doing it 1 hour and a half earlier would be a great slap in the face to Letterman for all his comments over the years and for CBS for launching Project Leno. That’s one of the reasons people look forward to the Late Night show so if Jay did it earlier you’d definitely deter some older viewers who have trouble staying up that late.
can’t wait… there’s been a lack of talk shows for celebrities to go on and talk about themselves.
The big questions is, who will be on the following week? How often are the A listers doing to drop by?
Well given that the top 10 list is never funny, lets hope its not a ripoff.
The Top Ten is something that’s used to fill up time — it’s easy and cheap — same goes for Celebrity Survey (even cheaper) — the first two answers to every question are a drag and take absolutely no ability to write, and the third answer’s not worth waiting for. Disgusting. These guys constantly insult their viewers.
This motley group of has-beens (and, I suppose, Ms. Montana) represents “star power”?
@Boris: Yes Miley Cyrus represents star power. Heck, out of the whole lineup for the first week she is the only one worth tuning in for. You just watch and you will see what i mean.
I have heard that ABC and CBS is asking that their “stars” turn down bookings on the Leno Show.
Very nice line-up, on Friday i assume they’d go for Will Smith to round the week up on high note.
Indeed, Jay may have problems with guests from CBS, ABC and FOX, but he doesn’t need them. Having only 1 guest per show he can do movies stars and movie promotions only, especially since they’re also aiming to talk more about politics, economics etc, i.e. some guests will be just smart people, who know what they’re talking about.
Question One: Is Leno capable of having A-list every week (at least once/week), as Conan couldn’t and it hurt him badly?
Question Two: Is he gonna fail miserably, pull just as much to keep him on the air or, in surprising turn of events, dominate 10 o’clock?
The celebrity overload is designed for people to sample the show. They can’t keep that up. There aren’t that many big celebrities. With so many talk shows at night it will depend more on whether you like the host or a particular guest.
I got to the point with Leno’s Tonight Show of avoiding it even when there was a guest I wanted to see. Just could not stand the show.
Basically his show sounds a lot like an old afternoon variety show. Can’t believe they will pull the demo though. Guess we will know soon enough. My guess is that as long as Leno has breathing viewers NBC will call it a victory.
The real problems for Leno will come the week after when it starts deteriorating with little interest on a nightly basis against ABC and CBS’ premiere week.
I hope to goodness Kyle S. is under 18.
