CARTOON NETWORK:
- With the final week of August ‘09 now accounted for, Cartoon Network charted double-digit prime time and total day delivery increases overall among kids 2-11, kids 6-11 and kids 9-14, compared to the previous month (July ‘09). In prime time, average kids 2-11 delivery (621,000) increased by 14%, kids 6-11 delivery (454,000) increased by 13% and kids 9-14 delivery (346,000) increased by 13%. In total day, kids 2-11 delivery (584,000) improved by 17%, kids 6-11 delivery (414,000) improved by 12% and kids 9-14 delivery improved by 10%.
- Among its programming standouts, Cartoon Network’s live-action alternative programming block (Wednesdays, 8-10 p.m.), scored lifts across all kids and boys demos vs. the previous four weeks (July ’09). The two-hour franchise saw kids 2-11 average delivery (491,000) rise by 9%, kids 6-11 delivery (389,000) by 5% and kids 9-14 delivery (331,000) by 5%. The two newest reality series that premiered Aug. 19—Bobb’e Says (8 p.m.) and Dude, What Would Happen (8:30 p.m.)—have seen significant double-digit gains among kids and boys 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14. Compared to the previous four-week time period, average delivery of kids 2-11 (685,000) increased by 26%; delivery of boys 2-11 (517,000) increased by 31%; delivery of kids 6-11 (529,000) increased by 25%; delivery of boys 6-11 (421,000) by 35%; delivery of kids 9-14 (452,000) by 42% and delivery of boys 9-14 (372,000) by a whopping 54%.
ADULT SWIM:
- Earning significant growth vs. its performance last year, Adult Swim completed August ’09 as the #1 basic cable network for total day delivery of adults 18-34, 18-24 and men 18-34, 18-24. Compared to August last year, Adult Swim’s delivery of adults 18-34 (451,000) increased by 15%, while delivery of adults 18-24 (227,000) increased by 11%. Delivery of young male demos also spiked in August—men 18-34 (278,000) grew by 4% and men 18-24 (146,000) by 6%. Also worth noting, delivery of adults 18-49 (624,000) improved over last year’s August performance by 22%, and delivery of men 18-49 (375,000) improved by 12%.
Among the monthly highlights, Adult Swim telecasts accounted for 19 of the top 50 telecasts of the month on ad-supported basic cable among adults 18-34—more than any other network. The most-watched Adult Swim telecast of the month among adults 18-34 was the Thursday, Aug. 27, 11:30 p.m. play of Family Guy, which attracted 1,468,000 viewers.
