Forgetting about the critiques themselves, I liked the Washington Post's classification system for its fall preview so much that I made a table so you could easily scan it.
WaPo has mini-reviews for all the shows in the table. And people paying close attention will notice there are also a few shows from cable (Bored to Death, White Collar, and Sherri) as well as The Wanda Sykes Show.
| Best | Good-to-Okay | Meh'-to-'Bleh' | The Dreck & Blech | Who Knows? |
| Cougar Town | Accidentally on Purpose | Brothers | The Cleveland Show | The Forgotten |
| Glee | Community | Eastwick | Melrose Place | The Beautiful Life: TBL |
| The Middle | V | Sherri | Hank | NCIS: Los Angeles |
| The Good Wife | Flash Forward | Three Rivers | The Vampire Diaries | The Wanda Sykes Show |
| Modern Family | Bored to Death | White Collar | ||
| Mercy | ||||
| Trauma |

Wow, looks like the new CW shows are being trashed almost across the board.
Although to be fair, most of the shows are likely well out of CW’s target demo.
thats funny the paper i was reading last week had NCIS LA, Vampire Diaries, Monden Family , Community, Mercy, Flasfoward, the good wife, as there best shows so i dont belive anything i ready intill i try it
oh the also had Eastwick has tope new show
help there so many shows to watch
H
sorry for double post
Hank seems to get to get horrible reviews everywhere personally im most interested in
Persons Unknown,V, Day One,Happy Town (midseason)
Glee, The Beautiful Life, Flash Forward The Good Wife and Eastwick (Fall)
The good wife won’t make it….. could be good for critics… but no way.
And the clevland show, I expect to not be liked by critics, but it realy has to suck in order not to make it. Is it worse than king of the hill??????
Hank would do better if it was sandwiched. But it’s the lead. But this article has the other 3 shows that night on ABC as “BEST”…. sooo
From the promos I actually thought The Middle looked worse than Hank, but I wasn’t very interested in either of them. I may have to check The Middle out now. I’m just glad Modern Family is on the best list. Really hoping it does well because it deserves to if the rest of the show is as good as the pilot.
The Good Wife is THE best reviewed show of the season it has a great timeslot , it’s on CBS where it fits with the older audiences (Canterbury’s Law supposedly did REALLY well with super old audiences FOX doesnt care about or really have and this seems like Canterbury’s Law **fixed** )
The Good Wife looks good i am excied to try some new shows even cable show is the fall look good
I agree with a lot , except for The Cleveland show and Vampire Diaries.
I understand that a lot of people don’t like Vampires so they probably think Vampire Diaries is bad. But the reality is that this year Vamps are selling like crazy everywhere , and I think Vampire Diaries will be a hit, specially for CW whose ratings usually suck.
Fx also has two new shows in the fall i think coming out so lets see how the season works out!
ABC comedies : Modern Family and Cougar Town will get a full season while The Middle and Hank will be axed.
ABC dramas: Flashforward will easily get an early full season, V and Forgotten could go either way while Eastwick is likely to be axed.
CBS shows: NCIS: LA will easily get a full season, and The Good Wife has a better shot over Three Rivers to get a full season but I have a feeling both dramas will air into at least October/November before the fates are decided. Accidentally on Purpose will likely get additional episodes.
CW shows: Melrose and Vampire Diaries are all likely to get a full year but The Beautiful Life looks good too.
FOX shows: The Cleveland Show has already been renewed, Brothers is likely to be renewed (as a companion to ‘Til Death), and Glee is also likely to get a full season.
NBC shows: Its an either or between Mercy and Trauma, 1 will get a full season 1 will be axed. Community will definitely get a full year.
I’m really sad that Cleveland is leaving Family Guy. He was pretty funny.
However, his new show does not look at all compelling.
Does anybody run an under/over book on show renewals?
It’d be interesting to read the odds.
I bet 3/5 or 4/5 of those shows in the “Best” category will be cancelled by the end of the season. How often does a show that critics like stay on for more than a season on broadcast networks?
Looks like the Post is one of the VERY few places that liked Accidentally on Purpose. It looks like utter crap to me and most reviews I’ve seen have corroborated that.
Personally I’m looking forward to Cougar Town, V and Flash Forward.
I know it’s stupid…I grew to hate the original “V”, but I’d *love* to see it done, BattleStar Gallactica-style…
The original just got so….dorky, so quickly. Kinda like Dark Angel. Loved it, too.
Are these people (from those days) starting with one director, then handing off? I didn’t check for that…
How could they hated hank. i think it must be good since the series is created by tucker carly, emmy Award Winning Writer OF Everybody Loves Raymond. I would think that they hated Accidentally On Purpurse.
Community was pretty good. I hope NBC gives it a fair chance.
