On a repeat filled holiday weekend Sunday, a new episode of CBS' Big Brother was the top rated show in the adults 18-49 demo and helped put CBS on top for the night with just a 1.2 demo rating average overall as broadcast ratings fell sharply from last week.

While it towered over the weak competition, Big Brother 11 was down sharply from the 2.5 demo ratings it scored the previous two Sundays.

Those of you who thought ABC's Defying Gravity's ratings couldn't go any lower should look away from the list below. They hit a nearly weightless 0.6 demo rating.

There Goes the Neighborhood and Shark Tank were also down sharply from last week and their recent performances.

We may or may not get our regular ratings data. If we do, I may or may not update the post with it later. ;)

Here are the half hourly results from Marc Berman/Mediaweek.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

Why isn’t this in English??!??!?!?!?? German!!!????? WTF!

  2. Chief

Thank God the new season starts tomorrow on CW. Talk about a pointless summer ratings-wise.

  3. Dario

sorry I didn’t notice that my father set translator…

  4. Dario, Guten tag.

  5. Daniel

only about a couple week until all that good stuff starts up

  6. 0megapart!cle

Such a shame about Defying Gravity. It really is a good show, and deserves far better than this. The marketing was horrid, but the show was very good. Such a shame.

  7. Jared

for what it’s worth, i like format you’ve been doing for the numbers lately. Not as great as the old tables, but pretty easy to follow the important data.

  8. Wow, the bottom dropped out of Big Brother. I guess the last person worth sticking around for is now gone and there is no reason to watch. You have a handful of Natalie fans and Big Brother die hards. The casual watchers in it for the entertainment value, jumped ship.

  9. Mark

I’m sad to see Shark Tank’s ratings down, because I really like the show.

Really excited to watch 90210 and Melrose Place tomorrow!

  10. Survivor, the “bottom” dropped out of everything last night, as to be expected. Make no conclusions about anything based on last night’s numbers.

  11. elusiveflare

im hoping by some miracle Michele wont be evicted tomorrow shes is the only remaining contestent who didnt spend most of the game in someone else’s shadow and fought hard to stay this long

  12. R.J.

I don’t know why but shark tank wasn’t on in Boston.

  13. Anonymous

“Shark Tank” was great last night!
And I’m sure the CW wishes they had the Daytime Emmy’s EVERY Sunday LOL

  14. Kevin

Will you show 18-34 ratings for 90210 and MP tomorrow?

  15. Kevin, the 90210 and MP ratings for Tuesday night will arrive Wednesday morning. I’d expect to get our regular numbers posted, but there’s always a chance that the holiday screws with the delivery schedule.

  16. tdot

it was sooooo funnny when Natalie open pandora’s box and annoyed all the other contestants

  17. Shem

The Tyra Show started in Daytime today on the CW- will be seeing any reports on its performance?

Broadcast TV apparently loves movies – viewers don’t. The Daytime Emmys should have aired last night so that the CW could have gotten a push. I saw a preview of Life UneXpected and it looked like a movie, rather than a series. And those MP promos were all over the place … CW,the internet,USA,HGTV and who knows where else.

  18. I’m just concluding based on experience from watching every season of Big Brother that when the fan favorite is eliminated, ratings drop.

Clearly we will know more Wednesday morning…

  19. ihate2fly

Should have 16 weeks of Sunday Night Football leading the ratings here on out.

  20. Bad Robot !

Defying Gravity defies logic by remaining on the air!

Though I only watched bits and pieces of it, its still the same insipid flashbacks 80% of the time. The rest of the time seemed to involved hallucinations and such while trying to film a TV commercial in space – how exciting! What exactly is the point of this show? To try and bore people to death? No amount of promotion could save this pointless show from collapsing into a mind sucking black hole.

Now lets get those fall shows on the air, its gotta be better than the dreck that the networks have been foisting on the viewing public over the summer.
