Update: In my first major mistake of the new season (and it hasn't even begun!), I confused the Gossip Girl and 90210 premiere dates. One thing I'll promise is that it won't be the last.
Getting a head start on the rest of the new fall broadcast competition, the CW premieres 90210 (season) and Melrose Place (series) tonight. How do you think they'll do? Given that the CW cares most about reaching women 18-34, guesses for either their adults 18-34 rating or their women 18-34 rating seem most appropriate
Last season 90210 started strong with a 3.1 adults 18-34 rating but trended down during the year, I'd expect it do do a bit less tonight, in the 2.5-3.0 range. I'd expect Melrose Place to do the same. I'd look for their women's 18-34 ratings to be about 3.5.
Here's the overnight ratings scorecard from September 2, 2008, 90210's premiere night last season for reference (unfortunately we were not getting gender demo overnight information last season like we are now):
| Time | Net | Show | Viewers Live+SD (Millons) | 18-49 Rating/Share | 18-34 Rating/Share |
| 8:00 | NBC | America's Got Talent (8-10p) | below | below | below |
| CBS | NCIS (repeat) | 8.03 | 1.6/4 | 0.9/3 | |

| FOX | House x2 (8-10p) (repeat) | 6.37 | 2.4/6 | 1.7/5, 2.4/7 | |
| CW | 90210 | 4.91 | 2.6/9 | 3.1/10 | |
| 9:00 | CBS | Big Brother 10 | 6.50 | 2.4/6 | 1.7/5 |

Hype Over Substance. Dont care how they do!
90210 premieres tonight, GG next monday
Tonight is premiere of 90210 not GG
90210 2.8, Melrose 3.8
Do’h! My first embarrassing mistake of the new season corrected!
I don’t blame you for confusing 90210. Characters parents getting it on together, long lost half brothers, parents getting high, seems like the same show to me.
I don’t want to get into actual numbers, but I’m expecting Melrose to become a bigger hit that 90210
90210 2.7m, Melrose 3.5m…but I think the viewers will be about even for each show by midseason.
90210: 3.34 million, A18-49: 1.4
Melrose Place: 4.01 million, A18-48: 1.9
W18-34:
90210 – 2.9
Melrose – 3.1
A18-34:
90210 – 2.3
Melrose – 2.4
90210 2.5-3 million 18-49 1.1-1.2
Melrose place 3-4 million 1.7-2.0
Im not totally sure but since everything else is in repeats it should help melrose place but 90210 should do ok 2.
Come on people of tvbythenumbers, let’s give Sons of Anarchy a bit of attention. It’s certainly better than all those CW shows premiering tonight.
BJ, others, we don’t get cable show ratings on an overnight basis, nor do we get the details we get for broadcast ratings, so it’s much harder to do daily items (as opposed to weekly) with cable shows.
90210 3.3 million
melrose place 4.3 million
next week: 90210 2.9 million-melrose place 3.3 million.
season finale: 90210 1.6 million-melrose place 2.1 million.
GUYS THIS IS THE CW—-!!!!
90210 3.2 million
Melrose Place 3.4 Million
and 90210 is nothing compared to GG (the only good show on the CW now that Valentine is gone)
valentine was crapola
90210 – 3.3m
MP – 4.1m
Only time you’ll see either show this high from here on out.
Sons of Anarchy is ten times better than both shows. SOA would shit all over these shows if they were on a broadcasting network.
I don’t even remember what Valentine was. Was it one of the Sunday shows?
90210= 3.0M
Melrose= 3.5-4.0M
Once everything else starts, expect 90210 to drop to around 2.3-2.5 and Melrose to hover around 3M
Julia: Valentine was one of the CW’s Sunday night shows that were financed by MRC along w/ Easy Money.
