Summer winds down, and not soon enough for us!
Last night was mixed leadership with CBS winning handily with viewers and adults 18-49 and Univision winning with adults 18-34. Though with just the English language networks, CBS scored a sweep and won the 18-34 demo too. With adults 18-49, CBS won every half hour of the night.

It should be an interesting year for How I Met Your Mother. In two weeks Accidentally on Purpose debuts at 8:30pm and How I Met Your Mother will likely get increased attention as the show's lead-in. House will again this year sacrifice some ratings juice by appearing at 8pm to bolster a show, in this case, Lie to Me. Sure House would do better at 9pm, but FOX has to at least try to use its hits to build new ones.
The last day of unofficial summer brought good news at 8pm for NBC. The Law & Order: CI repeat snagged NBC's best Monday 8pm performance with overall viewers in 14 weeks -- since June 1!

As has been the case most of the summer, CBS comedy reruns dominated at 9pm, and the recent trend of The Big Bang Theory outperforming Two and a Half Men with adults 18-49 continues. If that trend continues into the regular season starting in two weeks, look for eleventy billion stories in the media about what a great and unheralded show The Big Bang Theory is and that's on top of the one hundred and fifty you would've seen anyway.
The 9pm Law & Order: CI repeat brought NBC more end of summer joy, scoring its best 18-49 numbers in the slot in 11 weeks - June 22.

NBC edged out CBS in total viewers to take the hour. What can we say about the repeat Castle marathon? It was a distant last place (outside of the CW) every hour. Still, it increased every hour! Ok, that's not much to get excited about.
Series/Season premiere action
Tonight, the season premiere of 9021o at 8pm and the series premiere of Melrose Place at 9pm. Excited yet? If not, maybe the season premiere of Sons of Anarchy on FX at 10pm is more your thing.
Late Night Wars:
(Top 24 local people meter markets only) An encore Conan and The Tonight Show bested an original The Late Show with David Letterman in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.5).

Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
