correction: earlier I'd had the post headlined that CNN had the most viewers for the address when FNC had the most viewers for the address by a wide margin. The numbers in the post were correct but for some reason, today, the data for the 8pm-9pm hour was broken out into half hours and what is always sorted FNC, CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, HLN was sorted FNC, FNC, CNN, CNN, etc and it threw me off.
I apologize for the error and at least for the 8pm-9pm hour have inserted the networks into the listings. Normally that's not necessary because the program names make things clear. Again, I apologize for the error. And if it helps, here are the Cable News ratings by actual program duration courtesy of @Travisyanan on Twitter:

O’Reilly postgame show with over 5 million viewers. Yowsers!
Fox picked up another honest journalist John Stossel. You leftist just keep bleeding yourselves. When your boat is sinking don’t keep drilling holes in the bottom of the boat. We are the New mainstream media.Go away your not needed anymore. MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same. Ask the pimps and slave owners at ACORN.
Ron Burgundy is moving from abc to fox. stay classy news….
ED Schultz breaks one million!
MSNBC beats CNN!
yeah MSNBC!
msnbc how more honest can they be.
So the koolaid at fixed news is alive and well
cable news is not news
Fox news is the only reliable source for news, msdnc will resort to running lockup re-runs in primetime to try to gain another dozen people to join the dozen that already watch that crap already.
Olby is a duesh, to say the least, he doesn’t have the spaldings to even let someone with a different view other than his on his show.
Go MSN! I guess some of Fox watchers got excited to see that someone called Obama a liar. It was actually pretty funny to see the guy do that given that there’s no provision that allows illegals to get free health care.
when will msnbc go out of business?
Fred NBC is going out of business and this is why. See how long it takes NBC to mention the name ACORN. See it’s not just the stories you do report. It’s also the ones you don’t report. And who filled that void??? FOX NEWS. Look at the numbers. The old leftist media will never change so they are going to die. That is what we are seeing today. MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same Ask The Pimps and Slave owners at ACORN.
Fred, They ain’t goin out of business any time soon.
This is actually pretty big isn’t it since CNN usually does the best on “Live” or “Breaking” stories right?
Charlie, you are correct.
Charlie is correct that CNN usually does the best on breaking news, but probably not correct about this being pretty big. I’m pretty sure FNC has led cable news coverage with all the televised Obama speeches this year.
HOLY KITTEN CRAP GO FOX NEWS.
Bill, Robert, I got a question for you. Are the MSNBC numbers right? Looking at your numbers I see that on MSNBC, the Presidents speech from 8:30-9:00 averaged 2.449 million viewers, when it ended, between 9:00 to 9:30 KO got 2.3 million viewers, then between 9:30 and 10:00 KO averaged 2.7 million viewers. According to those numbers, KO’s post-game show (if you will) got higher ratings after the president stopped talking than when he was talking, and, in fact, those numbers are higher than CNN’s ratings for the president’s speech. If those numbers are correct, the only theory I have is that some people watching the speech elsewhere decided to turn over to the analysis on MSNBC. I do note that CNN’s numbers went from about 2.7 million for the president’s speech, to about 2.2 million by time Larry King took over?
++++++++++++
Oh, and for the Fox people. Congrats on the huge numbers. Really, that’s great. Too bad high ratings didn’t result in election wins in either of the last two cycles. In fact, as good as Faux’s ratings are they didn’t prevent you from losing too landslides in a row. Oh, and if Obama gets healthcare, you can forget it in 2010.
