Letterman is the best show in Late nite. The best thing that happened to Dave was when the Right Wingers went nuts over the Gov Palin jokes Dave said a few months ago. Fox News really helped Letterman by talking about him day and night. Keep up the good work Dave and thank you Fox and talk radio.

I liked Conan in his late night slot but in his Tonight show incarnation I’m finding him too over the top and intense. Too variety-show-ish. He needs to calm down and relax. I have the same problem with Fallon’s show.

Letterman is a class act! He’s a seasoned professional. Ferguson is funny, intelligent and honest! These guys are the only reason to stay up late for!

  4. Charlie

Conan never matured. He’s the same as he was when he started Late Nite. I was really hoping he’d grow up before getting the Tonight show.

  5. Dave’s interview with Matt Damon on Thursday night this past week is the perfect example of why he’s #1…it was hilarious!!! And inviting Jack Hanna again is always a treat. The perfect end to a long day. That’s why more and more people are tuning in to enjoy the old pro.

well, clearly most people here aren’t Conan fans, so I doubt anyone will agree- but I for one am glad conan didn’t m ‘mature’ (he is also a mature, seasoned professional when it comes to commedy in general, but yes his comedy is less subdued..). This brand of comedy is what made him popular enough to get this job in the first place. Ratings are ratings, so I can’t argue with that, but lets not forget that Leno’s show was behind in ratings for the first few years when he started too, and then it turned into the Tonight Show dominating the ratings for pretty much the rest of his run… so I personally think it’s too early to count anyone out.

Conan’s horrible, he always starts acting obnoxious to try to force a laugh out of people whenever he tells a bad joke

  8. Sophia

Dr. Wily…it’s not being obnoxious, it’s trying to save a joke. And for most comedians a bad joke that gets a good save is better than a good joke.

I am loving the fact that Dave and company are doing so great. After reading NBC’s spin, it is almost as if Jeff Zucker is rewriting fiction from week to week. COCO will do fine even though I have not tuned in since the first week. I want everyone to succeed but of course want Dave to finish on top..LOL!

I don’t remember Conan looking so skinny and small on Late Night. I think it was a big mistake to make his new studio so big and cavernous. He is really quite tall but the monster of a studio dwarfs him and puts him a million miles away from the band, hurting the once close proximity humor between him and Max. In contrast, Leno’s show was much more intimate and he was almost in the audience’s lap during his opening monologue. I also think that all the pressure to perform in the ratings is getting to Conan’s health. He looks like he might be loosing weight for a relatively young man. His face seems thinner and more boney and it looks like he is getting wrinklier around his eyes. He looks like he is being overwhelmed by the gigantic studio and the ratings race. Notice how infrequent his opening standing ovations are getting even from his diehard fans. I can remember when Letterman stopped getting his “new show” standing O’s and the ratings shift to Leno began to build.

c’mon guys…….ferguson is the best…….the waving crocodile is THE MAN:))…..

  12. Nicole

I agree with you r2zv2n. Craig Ferguson is the best thing in late night television. Completely unique and entertaining.

Dave’s standing O’s back in the day stopped because the producers wanted to tone down the “Late Show.” Back in the day I remember reading about how everyone was jazzed about producing the show from a theater like setting and that things grew out of control. Either way, it is nice to see that Dave is enjoying what will hopefully not be his final victory lap.

  14. James

I love Craig Ferguson…What LATE NIGHT Should be…

“The best thing that happened to Dave was when the Right Wingers went nuts over the Gov Palin jokes”

Bwaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha……is that a joke? The best thing that happened to Dave was the retirement of Leno.
