We apologize for the site outage between roughly 7:15p PDT Friday night and 7:15a PDT Saturday morning (the site was up sometimes, and down sometimes in that window).
We made a very small change that wound up having huge ramifications on our database. The change we made was so small I would've never thought to associate it with the outage and initially our host had described it as a problem with the entire server cluster, not just our site. They were having some issues figuring it out though and I wound up falling asleep,
I woke up and the site was still down. But while we were sleeping they figured out that the problem wasn't the server cluster, the problem was that the teeny tiny change we made was bringing down the whole server cluster so they had disabled our site. We undid the change and are back in business.
I apologize for any inconvenience.
There goes the SLA for the website. As a loyal customer, I demand 100% uptime. As for the mistake, you should never admit it was your fault. Say it was due to a faulty internet connection in your hosting center, or that the PMM’s feeding electricity to your cluster experienced an anomaly.

U guys rarely have these problems now when i first came to this site it was nearly down on a daily basis.
Robert, yeah, last April and May were not fun for us, and precipitated us switching to a new provider who has been great. Last night was really folly — I was trying to fix something that wasn’t necessarily even really busted. That will teach me!

It would sound cooler if you say that it was a denial of service attack launched by rogue hackers employed by a foreign government.
Just sayin’.
I was online for most of that time and of course noticed the outage, but wasn’t inconvenienced. Fortunately I had opened about 12 tabs when I logged on (shortly before the site went down) and so was able to catch up on all the stories and comments that I had missed (man there were a lot of VD comments!).
So now we’re back to it and it looks like another day of vampires and Dollhouse!
that was the first time i’ve had a problem with this website since about march
i thought it was my internet connection’s fault
its been acting all funky lately
yeah I thought it was my connection as well & freaked out a bit. good to know my tech isnt faulty already.
