I'm sure some people won't like how True Blood wrapped up it's season, but I thought they did a very nice job of it. And even if I'd hated it, which I didn't, just for the Jason Stackhouse philosophy it would've been worth it.
"If a tree falls in the woods, it's still a tree, right?"
Why isn't Anne Dudek on TV more? It was great to see her reprising her role of Francine Hanson in tonight's episode of Mad Men. She lights up the screen.
I watched about nine hours of NFL football today and probably about two hours of after game press conference coverage on ESPN News.
Comcast recently has added a boatload of channels to its HD lineup. I presume some of this is because they could free up the bandwidth of the channels that prior to digital conversion had been analog.
But of all the channels, I have particularly become mesmerized with ESPN News and MLB TV and NFL Network in HD. OK, NFL Network was in the HD lineup before, but I didn't have access to it until the NFL and Comcast got things sorted out.
There's a lot of Nielsen stats I wish were readily available that I'd love to see. Like, how many people watch at least 30 minutes of ESPN News a week? I'm not talking about average audience, but unduplicated reach who watched at least 30 minutes. Or even 15.
I'd like to see those numbers for all networks, of course. I also wish it were possible to get ratings for just the HD channels (including the broadcast networks) and I'd love to do analysis on what the impact of having networks available in HD is. Speaking for myself, had ESPN News not found its way to HD, there's little chance I'd ever watch it. In the last week, I probably watched it for at least 5 hours.
Yeah, I know I watch too much TV. But it's a job perk. I wish I was getting back an hour of time on Sundays with True Blood finishing up so I'd have more time for ESPN News and MLB TV, but with Dexter, Californication and Curb Your Enthusiasm all coming back, not to mention Sunday Night Football my brain will be even mushier than normal by the end of Sunday for the next few months.
Fortunately, besides NFL, the only stuff I watch from the broadcast networks' fall Sunday night lineups is the animation block on FOX, and that's stuff I don't mind deferring until later and catching up on in binges.

i couldn’t pay attention to tonight’s episode of Mad Men because i was trying to follow the VMA controversy!
i’ll catch it at 11pm pacific tonight!
I loved the episode of True Blood! Anna Paquin carried the episode.
Robert, I feel for ya!
Robert,
I know exactly what you mean! I would love to watch television as a job perk. I always hate to divulge how much tv I watch or dvr for later viewing.
True Blood-I’ve been hearing many different things from fans. I wasn’t overwhelmed with the finale. It was good but some things lacked, imho.
Mad Men-brilliant episode.
I cannot wait for Curb, Bored To Death, Dexter and Californication.
Loved the True Blood epi because the zombie-eyed orgy ended! Too bad about a certaim man with great abs, though!
Maybe I was just expecting too much out of the True Blood season finale, but it was just a humongous let-down for me. So disappointing.
TB, I’m so used to the trend of intense buildup leading to anticlimactic resolution in all forms of media (books, movies, television) that my expectations are lowered.
Pacing is difficult, too. If TB had ended its season w/the end of Godrick, I think people wouldn’t have been as let down by the finale. But instead would’ve been let down that the season was a couple of episodes shorter!

This is why I love Weeds. They don’t know how to do anticlimactic.
Nice looking blog. Which template are you using? Nice post as well!
