NATIONAL NIELSEN RATINGS FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 7 - 13, 2009

FOX OFF TO A Glee-FUL START THIS FALL!

FOX kicked off its Fall slate last week with strong premieres of fan-favorite So You Think You Can Dance and new comedy Glee. In addition, the network enjoyed a solid performance by summer hit HELL’S KITCHEN and said goodbye to its long-running animated favorite KING OF THE HILL.  FOX continues its streak as summer’s No. 1 network. 

HELL’S KITCHEN reached a boiling point on Tuesday with a 3.7/11 among Adults 18-49 -- its highest rating of the summer among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Total Viewers.  HELL’S KITCHEN outperformed its prior summer average by +12% among Adults 18-49, by +21% among Adults 18-34, and by +13% among Total Viewers.  The culinary competition show was the highest rated program of the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 outperforming competition that included NBC's two hour America's Got Talent and The CW's season premiere of 90210 and series premiere of Melrose Place.

The Wednesday night season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance delivered a 2.7/8 among Adults 18-49 and outperformed FOX’s regular Fall’08 average in the Wednesday 8p hour by +26% in the key Adults 18-34 demo.  The dance sensation won its hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos, and made gains in its second half hour among Adults 18-49 (+12%), Adults 18-34 (+15%), Teens (+13%) and Total Viewers (+8%).

Wednesday night also featured the highly anticipated Fall season premiere of Glee at 9p, which delivered a strong 3.5/9 rating among Adults 18-49.  This marks FOX’s highest-rated Fall scripted new series premiere in three years among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens. The season premiere also outperformed its post-American Idol series preview in May by +12% in Adults 18-34 and +29% in Women 18-34.  In addition, Glee built upon its lead-in by +30% among Adults 18-49, +28% among Adults 18-34, +24% in Teens and +14% in Total Viewers and showed impressive gains compared to FOX’s regular Fall’08 average in the Wednesday 9p hour, increasing +94% among Adults 18-49, +131% among Adults 18-34, +91% among Teens and +53% in Total Viewers.  Glee won its hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.

On Saturday, the season premiere of COPS at 8p posted a 1.2/4 among Adults 18-49.  The following episode of COPS delivered a 1.7/6 ratings among Adults 18-49 and ranked No. 1 in its half hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and all key women demos.  At 9p the season premiere of AMERICA’S Most Wanted posted a 1.7/5 and ranked No. 1 in its hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and key male and female demos.

Following an NFL over-run on Sunday night, the animated hit KING OF THE HILL concluded its 13 season long series with a 3.0/8 at 8p and a 2.9/7 at 8:30p among Adults 18-49.

HELL’S KITCHEN outperformed its prior summer average by +12% among Adults 18-49 (3.7/11 vs. 3.3/11), by +21% among Adults 18-34 (3.5/12 vs. 2.9/11) and by +13% among Total Viewers (8.0 s. 7.1 Mil).  HELL’S KITCHEN was the highest rated program of the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 outperforming ABC's Shaq Vs. and Primetime: Family Secrets, CBS' Big Brother, NBC's two hour America's Got Talent and The CW's season premiere of 90210 and series premiere of Melrose Place.  HELL’S KITCHEN won the 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.

MORE TO LOVE delivered a 1.8/5 among Adults 18-49, a +6% gain versus its prior summer average (vs. 1.7/5).  MORE TO LOVE ranked No. 3 in its 9p hour among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

The Fall season premiere of GLEE at 9p delivered a 3.5/9 among Adults 18-49 which marks FOX’s highest-rated Fall scripted new series premiere in three years among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

The season premiere of GLEE outperformed its series preview following American Idol on 5/19/09 by +12% in Adults 18-34 (3.7/11 vs. 3.3/10) and +29% in Women 18-34 (5.4/15 vs. 4.2/12).  GLEE built upon its lead-in by +30% among Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 2.7/8), +28% among Adults 18-34 (3.7/11 vs. 2.9/9), +24% in Teens (2.1/8 vs. 1.7/6) and +14% in Total Viewers (7.5 vs. 6.6 Mil.)

GLEE also showed strong growth compared to FOX’s regular Fall’08 average in the Wednesday 9p hour, increasing +94% among Adults 18-49 (3.5/9 vs. 1.8/5), +131% among Adults 18-34 (3.7/11 vs. 1.6/5), +91% among Teens (2.1/8 vs. 1.1/4) and +53% in Total Viewers (7.5 vs. 4.9 Mil.)  GLEE won the 9p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.

The Fall season premiere of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE posted a 2.7/8 among Adults 18-49.  SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE grew over FOX’s regular Fall’08 average in the Wednesday 8p hour by +26% among Adults 18-34 (2.9/9 vs. 2.3/8).  SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE won the 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos and showed growth in its second half hour among Adults 18-49 (+12%, 2.9/8 vs. 2.6/8), Adults 18-34 (+15%, 3.1/10 vs. 2.7/9), Teens (+13%, 1.8/7 vs. 1.6/6) and Total Viewers (+8%, 6.8 vs. 6.3 Mil.)

FOX won the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.

FOX ranked No. 2 for the night on a total primetime basis among Adults 18-49 and No. 1 among Adults 18-34, Women 18-49/18-34/25-54 and Men 18-34 (tie).

Following an NFL over-run, the series finales of KING OF THE HILL posted a 3.0/8 at 8p and 2.9/7 at 8:30p among Adults 18-49.  KING OF THE HILL combined in the 8p hour (2.9/8) to match its average last season with originals (2.9/7).  KING OF THE HILL ranked No. 2 in the 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

At 9p an encore Family Guy posted a 2.4/6 among Adults 18-49 followed by a repeat American Dad with a 1.9/4.  Both FAMILY GUY and AMERICAN DAD ranked No. 2 in their half hours among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens.

FOX ranked No. 2 for the night among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34 and Teens behind NBC’s premiere night of Sunday Night Football.
