GOSSIP GIRL Dramatically Improves on May Ratings;

September 15, 2009 (Burbank, CA) – The CW’s signature Monday night returned in strong fashion and just as it had last fall, finished first from 8-10p.m. with its core audience of women 18-34 (2.9/8), females 12-34 (2.6/8) and female teens, according to preliminary live plus same day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Sept. 14, 2009. The CW also ranked second from 8-10p.m. with adults 18-34 (1.8/5).
Kicking off its third season, GOSSIP GIRL delivered strong demos in its new 9pm time period, scoring the show’s best women 18-34 (3.3/8), adults 18-34 (2.0/5) and women 18-49 (2.1/5) since Dec. 2008. GOSSIP GIRL also posted its largest audience (2.5mil) since Jan 2009.
Despite moving time periods, GOSSIP GIRL matched its much-buzzed about second season premiere last year with women 18-34 (3.3/8). The GOSSIP GIRL faithful returned in force, as the show improved dramatically compared to its performance at the end of last season, building 25% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-34 versus its May 2008 average.
Competitively, GOSSIP GIRL won the 9pm time period among women 18-34 and women 12-34 (3.0/8). GOSSIP GIRL also ranked second in the hour among adults 18-34 (2.0/5)
Entering its seventh season and now leading off Monday night, ONE TREE HILL returned just as strong as it finished season 6, virtually on par with its May performance in women 18-34 (2.4/7), adults 18-34 (1.6/5), adults 18-49 (1.2/3). ONE TREE HILL finished second in the hour with women 18-34, adults 18-34 and females 12-34 (2.2/7).
