TODAY's Lauer & Roker to Broadcast Live from Dallas
on Friday Morning
NEW YORK – September 16, 2009 -- NBC is descending on Dallas for the opening of the new Cowboys Stadium, highlighted by the "TODAY" show's Matt Lauer and Al Roker broadcasting live from the stadium on Friday morning. The Dallas Cowboys will officially unveil their new $1.2 billion stadium Sunday night on "" as the Cowboys host their division rival New York Giants. "Football Night in America" begins at 7 p.m. ET with Bob Costas hosting live from inside the stadium.
Among the highlights of NBC's coverage of the new stadium:
TODAY: America's favorite morning program will travel to Dallas as Lauer and Roker broadcast live from the new stadium before the Cowboys much-anticipated home opener. Lauer and Roker will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the new stadium from Cowboy great Emmitt Smith. During the special broadcast, Lauer will talk to Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones, and Roker will catch up with the iconic Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. Both Lauer and Roker will sample the game-day cuisine that fans can enjoy at the new stadium. Viewers will also get a preview of the many art exhibits by world-renowned artists on display in the concourses of the new stadium. NBC Sports' "" broadcasters will also weigh in on the historic stadium opening and the Giants-Cowboys rivalry.
Also live from Dallas, "Today's" new contributing correspondent, Jenna Bush Hager, will debut her first piece since joining the program. Hager will profile Dalton Sherman, an 11-yr-old motivational speaker from Dallas who made headlines across the country last year after giving an inspiring speech at his school's pep rally.
In the fourth hour of "Today," Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford will discuss the stadium in their Hot Topics segment.
CNBC: CNBC's sports business reporter Darren Rovell will broadcast live from the stadium on Friday.
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys Stadium are featured in CNBC's acclaimed ad campaign "I Am American Business." The commercial, which was filmed at the stadium in July, debuted on NBC during the NFL's Hall of Fame preseason game on August 9 and has aired regularly on NBC and CNBC since.
ACCESS HOLLYWOOD: Friday's show will broadcast a segment on Jenna Bush Hager's "TODAY" show debut from Dallas and highlight the new Cowboys Stadium.
