I'm still waiting for the night's full details but there's no doubt NBC won the night with America's Got Talent averaging a 3.5/10 with adults 18-49 and 15.5 million viewers (a series record for AGT) from 8pm-10pm and The Jay Leno Show averaging a 3.4/10 and 13.1 million viewers overall.  While down from Monday's huge premiere, that's 2 million more than the  11.1 million on Tuesday night (final numbers).  Additionally  The Jay Leno Show delivered NBC’s highest 18-49 and total-viewer results in the time period since the August 2008 Summer Olympic Games.

Meanwhile Glee pulled in 6.642 million viewers 3.1/8  with adults 18-49 and a 3.5/10 with adults 18-34, and a whopping 5.0/14  women 18-34!

Things weren't so beautiful with the premiere of The Beautiful Life which averaged 1.462 million viewers and a mere  0.7/2  with adults 18-49,  a 0.8/2  with adults 18-34, and a 1.1/3  women 18-34.

Definitions:

Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live football game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.

Share (of Audience): The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time. (See also, Rating, which represents tuning or viewing as a percent of the entire population being measured.)

Time Shifted Viewing – Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live+Same Day (Live+SD) and Live+7 Day. Time shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs which are currently in approximately 24.4% of all U.S. TV households. Live+Same Day (Live+SD) include viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3:00AM local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live+7 Day ratings include incremental viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.

    Glee was so good yesterday.

  2. Igor

NBC is killing the competition this week. It’s a good thing considering that my favorite shows are on this tv and the cw. Heroes, Chuck, The office, 30 rock, Park and Recreation (and hopefully Day One). This kind of ratings can really boost theirs season premiers and give them a better chance.

I am sorry for the TBL it was a decent show much better then Merlose Place and 90210, it was a decent episode.

  3. forg

Very poor ratings for TBL. That’s the lowest CW premiere ever I guess
Glee still did good on the demo ratings but I hope it could still rise for the total viewers

  4. Glee held up pretty well. It dropped 6% in A18-49, 3% in A18-34 and 6% in W18-34. I don’t think Fox could ask for more. It’ll be interesting to see what it does next week against its regular competition.

  5. mayorofsmpleton

Glee may rise in total viewers if it gets the post American Idol slot this winter. Otherwise it’s going to stay a niche show with good demos (enough to survive on FOX, but not to be a powerhouse).

  6. onevision

Glee might not have the greatest viewer numbers but it certainly pulls outstanding demos! I hope it will settle soon.

Jay Leno did better than yesterday? I expected further drops. Perhaps AGT gave it a boost. We’ll see.

I actually thought TBL was the best pilot out of all CW pilots this year. It definitely pulled the trashy rich glamor scene CW has been trying to pull off so hard. It’s a shame it didn’t strike a chord with ANTM audience.

  7. Jonathan

Didn’t Bones new season premiere last night as well?

  8. cool

of course NBC is “killing the competition”, CBS and ABC are in repeats.

  9. Jonathan, no, that’s tonight.

  10. Does anyone have the half-hour data for last night’s Leno? I’m really interested to see if it once again lost a bunch of viewers during the hour…

  11. ryan

tbl viewers were dissapointing, there is no chance for the show to succeed, if tbl’s ratings were so bad, what were ANTM? there’s are usually solid, if cw only has 1 mid replacement show, then its safe to say Melrose will be fine and TBL will get the axe after 13 episodes

  12. Anonymous

    *beep….beep….beep….*

THE CW is on life support! ANOTHER “high buzz” show absolutely flopping last night….but then again, what’s new…*yawn*

  13. Chuck Tranberg

half-hour data is usually published at some point during the day. I wouldn’t be surprised if it lost viewers as the hour went by, but I doubt it was anything too substantial. I think NBC has to be happy with how well it has debuted. We will see tonight with weaker regular series premiering (except “The Office”) and a new series (“Community”), if it builds or loses audiences.

  14. Chmarin

TBL will be axed by November Sweeps and replaced by Blonde Charity Mafia. I’m 100% sure.
Cause they don’t wanna get rid of MP just yet… My guess is, the show will have the same fate like Privileged… They’re gonna order an additional 3-4 episodes which will finish airing by February/March, and then the show will be axed…

  15. cool

I think The CW has 2 shows for midseason, Life Unexpected and Blonde Charity Mafia.

  16. Byron

THE “GLEE” DISASTER BEGINS AS I PREDICTED !!!!!

    “Glee” Sept 9th – 7.3 million viewers

    “Glee” Sept. 16th – 6.6 million viewers

***”Glee” AUDIENCE EROSION*** “Glee” LOSES 700,000 VIEWERS IN 1 WEEK!

It will only get worse for “Glee” when the real competition begins!!!

AND MY MAIN MAN “LENO” GAINED AUDIENCE….13 MILLION VIEWERS..UP 2 MILLION viewers!!!

Please add up the fortune in costs FOX wasted on promoting and advertising “Glee” ad nauseum…and it still LOST 700,000 viewers in one week.

This “Glee” kiddie show is SUPER LAME…ASK any teenager and they say “Glee” is super cheesy!!!!

It will get worse for Glee as I predicted..by the last week of October “Glee” will be in the toilet along with the careers of those super lame development stooges at FOX most of whom were lucky to have inherited “American Idol”.

NBC had a killer Tuesday night without any lame scripted dramas!!! HOORAY!!!!

PS-thanks for posting these numbers “AHEAD” of that bloated mess Marc Berman…what’s with Berman? Sleeping in again? Berman’s a “TV Insider” like I’m Brad Pitt.

  17. rick

veronica mars is looking like a powerhouse now.

  18. Chmarin, Chuck Tranberg, we will get half hour results, likely quite soon.

  19. GEORGE 11

blonde charity mafia a 6 episode docu shop!and evr eps is only 30min!!
they dont even have other 30min show!!

  20. Bryon, did both Glee and Berman steal your lunch money?
